Greetings SFF!
Three things brought me to join your ranks; interest in a strong media PC with gaming potential, relishment in project minutiae, and SFFs wealth of talent, passion, and knowledge.
I had intended of replacing my laptop with an Intel NUC because of the space efficiency plus performance gains. That was when I discovered a thread among this very forum and realized maybe the NUC was not exactly what I was looking for but instead an SFF PC that is upgradable.
The last time I built a PC I was a freshman in HS and it had a Pentium II with Voodoo 3dfx running Windows 98 SE...writing this I am getting nostalgic and embarrassed remembering HS...I will save you the cringe factor and return to the topic at hand.
Since I can't go down to Circuit City to pick out parts for a new system I turned to PCPartPicker, YouTube and various other review repositories.
Multiple parts that I was slotting for potential use kept bringing me back to SFF so I decided to poke around and see what others were experiencing in thermals and system noise. The custom case and project sub-forum is what made me join because it was comprised of others who also enjoy attention to detail and even see their designs reach completion in the form of a consumer product.
The rest of this story will continue in a future build log and maybe even a custom case design of my own as well.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing knowledge and ideas with you all.
