Just a quick question regarding storage applications in small form factor. How much is too much? It seems to be quite affordable and easy to get 2TB drives now and I've noticed that some ITX board have up to 6 SATA ports on them in addition to M.2. Is there any practical use for 12TB or more on a single small form factor unit? What sorts of applications would require this much storage if any? Cheers.

4K uncompressed video can take up gobs of space so I could see there being a need for that much storage for portable video editing workstations. There are a few other professional applications I can see the need for lots of local storage.

For consumers, I could maybe see a compulsive game buyer needing terabytes of local storage. But for most everyone else a NAS makes more sense.

There's no good answer really. Everyone's needs are different, though I'd say a gamer would do well with 1-2TB, and people with only a couple games would be good with 512GB or even 256GB. At the other need of the spectrum, though, video content producers could need several TB of storage.

Linux + productivity software on a single 240GB SSD, 75% empty.

I use a 1TB NAS for photos and paperwork (along side Google drive).

Github hosts my development files and imgur my projects pics.

Crunchyroll premium provides animes and Spotify premium provides the music, saves a lot of space. Music I listen to on the go are saved locally on the phone from Spotify.
