Hi Phuncz,

I had one Qnap 2 bays, very obsolete, and this time instead of buying a commercial one, I decided to build the case in aluminum, not me of course, but I would like to have the design to somebody in Spain (where I live) to cut and bend.

The space I have to fit is height:18cm, width:45cm and length:32cm, and the description of what I would like to fit inside the case are:

1 - MotherBoard: Micro or Mini ITX not decided yet (Is it possible to have the mount screws for both?)
2 - Processor: not decided yet
3 - CPU Coller: Low profile one (Noctua NH-L9x65 or Noctua NH-L9i) will be not much of processing
4 - PSU: SFX
5 - Optical drive bays: I would like to add 2 HotSwap cages (), but at first, I will use just one. Is it possible to have cut but leave in place? will have more airflow for now.
6 - Fans: place one fan in the bottom to allow air to come in and one in the top for air out. I was tink to add one more until not using the 2 hotswap cage at this position if necessary.

I have found on the internet (Uk), a page allowing to draw, but no replay from them.

If you have how to help me in this case, I will appreciate it.

If you're building a NAS, I recommend looking for a case first, as all the other choices will have to follow that. There aren't that many options for storage-oriented cases. If you want hot-swap bays, be sure that the motherboard or SATA/SAS card supports hot-swap, as it depends not just on the mechanical, but also on the electrical.

If you need more than two 3,5" drive bays, the DS380 comes to mind: https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=452&area=en

Good luck... I've done it twice (Windows Home Server and Amahi) and then gave up to just get a Qnap....
