It’s a cool looking unit, but boy will it cost you. The AI ‘tax’ is in full effect, with AMD’s upcoming Ryzen AI Halo coming in at an eye-watering US$3,999 MSRP. The Ryzen AI Halo (let’s just call it the “Halo” henceforth), was originally announced as a local AI development mini PC earlier this year at CES.
Based on an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Processor with 16 cores/32 threads, the Halo has a Radeon 8060S IGP (RDNA 3.5, 40 CUs), AMD XDNA 2 NPU, 128GB of LPDDR5x and a 2TB M.2 SSD.
Rear IO consists of a triplet of USB C ports, another USB C for power in – the unit is purported to have a TDP of 120 Watts – and a lone HDMI 2.1b port.
On a positive note, it’s truly SFF, measuring in at 150 x 150 x 45.4 mm (just over a litre) and weighing in under 1.2 KG.
