All credit to Tom’s Hardware for getting a statement from Phison regarding E26 powered NVME SSDs shutting down. In an article posted by Zhiye Liu, Phison is stating that all of their partners E26 based PCIe 5.0 NVME drives must have a heatsink. While many have been sold as bare drives, Phison stated to Tom’s Hardware that the bare drives are for users to use their existing cooling products. While selling bare drives may sound strange to some people, it really isn’t. Many motherboards include some form of M.2 cooling.
