Having recently completed comparison testing of the Sliger S610 case in both normal and inverted orientation at https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/inverted-pc-case-temperature-comparison.18785/
it was apparent that this particular single case fan arrangement would allow me to compare individual 120mm case fan performance.
The case fans tested were:
Arctic P12
BeQuiet! Silent Wings 4 High Speed
Noctua A12x15
Noctua A12x25
Phanteks T30
Scythe Kaze Flex Black
Scythe Wonder Snail
Thermalright TL-C12PRO-G
Test was also conducted without a case fan installed.
Each fan was tested at maximum RPM except the Phanteks T30 as noted below. Those fans with stated maximum in excess of 2000 RPM were again tested at a PWM most closely matching the noted maximum RPM of the Noctua A12x25. The Phanteks T30 was tested in Performance mode with max noted RPM of 1973, and again in advanced mode at 55% PWM of 2064 RPM. The T30 fan in Advanced Mode @100% PWM measured 57.2 dba @ 3260 RPM – this was louder than I was willing to subject myself for the 10 minute test period.
Each case fan was mounted 87mm from the rear of the PNY RTX 3060 ITX length GPU.
With the location of the case fan well clear of any intake obstruction, no additional noises were noted on any of the tested fans. The Scythe Kaze Flex Black and Thermalright TL-C12PRO-G both appear to be more of an airflow style fan as opposed to a more static pressure oriented design of the other fans.
CPU cooler used was the Thermalright SI100 CPU cooler with the Be Quiet! SW 120 Pro 4 fan installed.
For noise readings the sound level meter was placed 30 cm from the right front corner of the case, 19cm high, with the CPU cooler side of the case faced away from the sound level meter.
