Hi Guys,

Long time stalker of these fourms and need a some advise on a build. I have purchased Geeek A30 case with a
DPS-500AB-16 A 500w platinum psu motherboard is strix x470i.

I have purchased what I had thought was a GTX 1080 mini for 400 euro second hand through a local ad and it turns out after testing its a zotac 1080 ti mini " well imagine my surprise" snapped that up like there was no tomorrow.

The chap was selling a few cards im assuming it was in a mining rig and prob sold me the wrong one or hadn't a clue what he had I have stressed the card no issues found "yet"

On to the question yea.. will a 500w psu 1080 ti mini with amd 2700 / 2600x cause some issues the power draw on that card is high.

Im aware some power supply's can go over the rated watts but it can't be good in the long term. Im assuming someone here has put weak psu's with high end cards / builds or should I just flip it for profit lol

Should with no problem. I've tested wattage draw of my 7800k (95W+ cpu) and my 1080ti mini and it comes in just shy of 400W. I'm also using a platinum rated (90%+ efficiency) psu but you'd be fine on even a bronze rated.

My 6700k and 1080ti mini hit 450w max draw, I would imagine you would be fine with that unit.

So I didn't mention my processor was slightly undervolted but I had to look up the 6700k... it's tdp is 91W, I expected it to be less. Still, if @Soules is using an 80% efficiency psu the numbers roughly match up.

400*.9/.8=450W
