Just wanted to share that I used method 1 on the newer USB4 version of the board and it works fine at 12v

I believe asrock changed the backplate to match other boards sometime this year. Earlier versions had the compatibility issue.

This is what I’ve done in my build to power a 4080 with the GaN 500 using a repinned 2x8 to take power from the pcie and eps connectors on the GaN. I then used a j-hack to bring power to the CPU.

The simple solution (and what I did) is to use a J-Hack m2426 to feed power to the CPU from the GaN’s 24-pin (limited to 75W of course) and then create a custom cable to take power for the GPU’s 12vhpwr from both the GaN’s single PCIe output and single EPS output. There is a jankier way to do...

I run a similar build without issues. 7800X3D/4080S. Your problem will be powering the GPU's 12vhpwr as well as that CPU from the PSU's outputs. It's possible but it might require funky custom cables.

Yes I would say it is possible. I would have to take some measurements to be sure there is no interference with the fan. Ill report back later tonight.

Yes I have used both on the 5800X3D. Both can be kept from thermal throttling using PBO2
