Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Or in my case (heh), I got on the lifeboat only to find that because the benches weren't square, the bag of emergency rations didn't fit in the designated compartment. So I had to get back out, none the worse save for wounded pride. Fortunately I was picked up by another vessel. Unfortunately...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Alas, Cerberus and I must part for now. I must endure the KL06's rattly construction for a while longer. One more thing: the side bracket is perhaps 3 mm too narrow for a standard Silverstone 140 mm dust filter. I can trim it down no problem but it does irk me a little.

Hey I'd be up for another uh...loan.

Heh, I like the sound of that. Almost worthy of a listing on some website. After you've handled Cerberus, all other mass-market cases feel cheap and flimsy. That being said, you definitely get the sense that it isn't ready for prime-time yet.

So, being nocturnal has not driven me mad after all. I'll start packing everything up. Funny thing is, I won't need to worry about PCI interference for a little while. It would seem my SC2 Hybrid likes to reboot my PC under load so back to EVGA it goes.

Yes, the I/O shield is pretty horrible, but it's as aligned as the screws will allow, barring the one that is known to be misaligned. At any rate, Any more progress in this case cannot be made without custom cables that are also softer. Be sure to check the second 3.0 x 16 slot. The PSU...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Well....now what? I am really not sure at this point who is out of spec. I still have the KL06B so I will transfer over and see what's what. Also, bloody hell the SF600 has some stiff cables. EDIT: Fits like an expensive glove in the KL06. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Well that's unfortunate. Yeah but I'd have to send it back at that point, wouldn't I? Then I'd have to move to some inferior case that doesn't fit under my desk and that's another n months of neck strain to use my second monitor...ech. It's not an ideal course of action. How late would you...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

So for us alpha testers, will there be some way to swap out the motherboard/PCI area? Looks to be held together with screws. I didn't mind USB2.0 or lack of 3.5mm jacks since I figured that would actually be better for an eventual headless server build, but this is damping that plan a little bit.

Ah, well I came to a somewhat different conclusion: I am beginning to suspect that Cerberus is some sort of teaching tool for Zen Buddhists.

Ok, so at least this isn't an isolated issue (whew). But, if I am guessing correctly, you have a Cryorig C7, which is about half the weight of a Noctua C14S. The sound of cracking fiberglass is already ringing in my ears >_< Yeah, I've been doing this by ear. It's worked mostly, a torque of...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

First, I would like to say thank you for using ferromagnetic screws. As someone who has to deal with aluminum screws daily this is bliss. Second, I'll post initial impressions when i get around to a formal build log thread, but could this reeaalllly use some documentation. Some of it is...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Just picked mine up since FedEx couldn't be bothered to drive 20 minutes yesterday and deliver on time. No pictures yet since my body is telling me that it's too early o' clock in the morning (hurrah for night shift!). I'm not sure how far I'll get since when I get up I'll only have about 10...
