Despite current RAM prices, I wanted to try out the Minisforum BD895i SE motherboard & CPU combination for its lower power draw when doing RAW image photo processing. I understood that as a laptop CPU based system there would be limited device connections. I liked the idea of 2 top mounted NVMe...
I found in both the Sliger 610 and 620 that case INTAKE fans need to be positioned 5 to 10mm from the panel sides to eliminate fan intake noise. Nuts and bolts with spacers are the smoothest, but zip-ties and spacers works just as well if a bit clumsy to install. My usual default is 10mm. This...
Another plus about cooling the 4750G is it idles at 7 watts. I added an RTX A2000 that also idles at 7 watts to my modded 678 case. Very pleased with the results.
For info, the 5700G also idles at about 7 to 8 watts, but will run about 10% hotter temps under full Blender render about 10% faster...
I finally got around to making a 5 minute video of the two custom 10 liter prototype cases Lazer 3D was nice enough to make for me.
See the video at:
The cases are discussed in other postings here on the forum.
If you want to use a SFX PSU at 5.9 liters I can recommend the Yiluka YLK 01 APU PC Case.
See my review here on the forum from 2/13/2021. Was expensive to ship to USA. Using a Noctua L12 Ghost Edition with the supplied bottom fan removed and a Noctua A12x25 fan installed on top of the cooler in...
I have uploaded a 5 minute video showing the various configurations possible with this build to YouTube at:
This is only my second video so I apologize for the rough editing.
I see considerable case fan testing but seldom in SFF cases. The modified 678 case claimed a volume of 6.7 liters. The case is too small for a 120mm fan to be mounted internally. The ID Cooling IS-47-XT CPU cooler was mounted with the cooler fins running across the width of the case forcing air...
Updated my Makerbeam proof of concept #2 with a second lower height base section allowing the build to be converted from a NAS home lab using the original taller base section with a minimum of a 4 bay SSD drive unit and horizontal motherboard – and allowing for a NVMe to SATA adapter in the...
I could not resist the RTX A4000 SFF Ada GPU – despite $$$$
The only question I wanted to answer was – since all the power for the GPU is through the motherboard, what difference would this make to the board temperatures versus a GPU with its own power from the PSU?
I ran my standard 10 minute...
