    AKLLA A5 ITX CASE Discussion

It doesn't give the measurements, unfortunately; but it looks a bit thick. The 140mm radiator I'm upgrading to is 30mm thick, so there's really not much room to spare. I think I'm resigned to drilling some holes in the case (that, IMO, should have been there in the first place). (Just gotta...

    AKLLA A5 ITX CASE Discussion

Interesting idea; but, space is pretty tight. There's just about 8mm between the radiator frame and the power supply. But now you've got me thinking... and one could probably print a small, simple part that would accommodate a nut on one side and a countersunk screw head on the other. Such a...

    AKLLA A5 ITX CASE Discussion

Yes. (Screws go through the bottom plate through the fan and into the radiator.) I think so. You can definitely change the orientation of this case. Though normally you'd use the perforated plate on top; you might need to put the bottom plate up top (unless the perforations in the top plate...

    AKLLA A5 ITX CASE Discussion

As @REVOCCASES noted, it's electrically trivial. Thanks for the explanation. However, having never performed such surgery before, I've been a little reluctant to dive in. If I do dive in, though, no half-measures: I'd cut the cable and crimp on new connectors.

    AKLLA A5 ITX CASE Discussion

There is virtually zero force on it. ;) This motherboard doesn't actually have a 24-pin connector; it has a 4-pin power connector and the board comes with a 24-pin-to-4-pin adapter, which is itself about 10 cm long (including the connectors). The shortest 24-pin power connector that CableMod...

    AKLLA A5 ITX CASE Discussion

Nice. We don't (typically) have to deal with import fees in the US; but my experience with shipping has been much, much slower. I got my A5 Max a few weeks ago, downsizing from a Phanteks Evolv Shift (which is an extremely well made case for the money, but just way bigger than I wanted). I am...

Fixing Rear MB M.2 Heat Issues in Dan A4 V4.1

I really don't see any downsides to routing the riser cable behind the GPU. Once you've rerouted the cable, there's only 2-3mm of clearance between the surface of the M.2 card and the motherboard plate. This isn't enough room for an additional radiative heatsink (i.e., a piece of metal with...

Fixing Rear MB M.2 Heat Issues in Dan A4 V4.1

I have a v3 and I just rerouted those cables to the other side of the backplate (so that they're now behind the GPU) to solve precisely this problem. Is that not workable on the v4.1? What you're describing sounds like quite a tangle.

SFF.Network ASRock DeskMini at Computex 2018

Ouch. I'd love to snag one of these; but that price is really hard to justify considering that one still has to add a CPU and memory. Factoring in the price of the 1080 MXM card, they're valuing that case, motherboard, and power brick at $700-$900. Um... no.

    Storage [SFFn] SilverStone's FS204 - Moar Storage!

Apart from the paint job, this unit looks completely identical to iStarUSA's BPU-124DE-SS, which has been on the market for a few years now. I have one; it's a quality piece of hardware. At least it looks like Silverstone has put theirs at about the same price point.

    DEMCiflex filters for A4 SFX

Can anyone share their experience with these? Why is one of the filters smaller in the "internal" set? Is it because the filter isn't intended to go over the CPU area due to low clearance? Is it possible to use the "external" filters internally? If so, just how much clearance do you lose?

Need help deciding on SFF case for small living room server box

Yes; but the included DC-DC power board is capable of more than that. (Looks like there are 120W and 150W variants.) You would need to get a beefier AC adapter than the supplied 60W one. Well, yes... It will be bigger. :) Another way to go if you prefer an internal power supply is something...

Need help deciding on SFF case for small living room server box

I'm not sure what precisely you mean by "some server hosting" (Web hosting?); but those use cases don't exactly jump out as needing a 95W CPU. For a file server, you'd be better served (ahem... sorry) by some of the newer Atom-based boards. If you really want to stick with a socketed CPU, a 35W...

    92mm fan attachment

I'm just starting my A4 v3 build. I took the case out of the box last night and had a look at things. This will be an air-cooled build and I intend to install a 92mm fan in place of the 2.5" drive tray. Given that the tray is installed using screws through rubber grommets, the holes in the case...
