My take on a SFF tower

Thanks :) The wooden base with cutout was added thanks to the inputs of @tinyitx and @Phuncz

My take on a SFF tower

FINISHED! ? The top & bottom panels are solid oak, finished with boiled linseed oil. I wanted to work on my woodworking skills, so I bought a piece of good oak (600x125x15), cut and planed the panels with hand tools to dimension (200x123.5x13.5) Power tools were only used for the cutout and...

My take on a SFF tower

Some progress was made today. I had a bunch of magnets Ø10x2mm left over from another project. So I decided to use them to attach the panels At the front, four magnets per fix point sandwich the stainless steel. This seems to work well and also gives me the planned 4mm distance between inner and...

As requested by troybot and a DM, the dxf files for the laser parts are now availabe. I just postet them to Resources, along with a little bit of explanation.

Enclosure DXF laserparts for 'My take on a SFF tower'

Carsten submitted a new resource: DXF laserparts for 'My take on a SFF tower' - dxf parts for skeleton & side/front - panels Read more about this resource...

Other DXF laserparts for 'My take on a SFF tower' 2020-06-09

These are the dxf files I used to order the laserparts for my build as described in this Thread: https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/my-take-on-a-sff-tower.13391/ Well, not exactly - the skeleton parts have a few changes to reflect modifications I have done after I received my cutout. The...

The cardboard mockup is finished. The cutting took quite some time but I am happy with the result: I will order the metal version soon, but it will take two weeks to arrive. I will use the time to preapare the magnetic mounting points and also work on the top & bottom panels.

OK, 25mm is more than I assumed you had. The cables are quite bendy but the pcb and plastic casting on each end need some room. See this pic of a cable I have: My approach was to buy a promising cable, test out the needed space and then fit my design to that. I guessed you wanted to go with...

I like the layout, compact and all fans on one side. The GPU seems to be pretty close to the MB. Have you found a riser cable that allows for the GPU to be placed like this? A straight riser would collide with the MB, unless you raise the MB or seperate the components a bit further. 90° riser...

My take on a SFF tower

Time for a short update: added a cutout for the ethernet-adapter in the back - now all essential ports are accessible without flipping the case over. modified the upper front to add a 120mm fan (Noctua S12B redux) and did some extra cable smooshing to get some clearance for the fan. added...

My take on a SFF tower

Trying out another panel design. Main motivation for the new version is the fact, that I cant seem to find a source to order laser cut and folded sheets from. This design consists of only two sheets, that require one fold each. I am confident that I can find a local shop that is willing to do...

My take on a SFF tower

I didnt consider that and I believe this wouldnt be benefitial: - The CPU has the same problem with positive pressure and Noctua seems to think that it would be a bad Idea to reverse the air flow. The fans are designed in a way that prevents an easy reverse of the fan on the CPU cooler. It can...

My take on a SFF tower

Ok, I did some Tests with fan configurations to figure out the best fan arrangement. Findings: - masking / creating a duct for the CPU can reduce the CPU temperature by several °C compared to open case - two intake fans (or more intake than outtake fans) are a bad idea, hindering the air...

I like the cubes, they are a simple and flexible solution. Also, I couldnt find a source for laser cut and folded parts. Can you reccomend one? I am still searching for one for the front cover.

I ordered from laserteileonline.de They are based in germany but ship to a few european countrys. The webside is in german only though. The dxf needs a minor update to reflect some changes that I made on the delived parts. I will send it to you when that is done.
