The next generation of Raspberry Pi has just launched, featuring on element14’s YouTube channel. The new version includes the Broadcom BCM2837RIF SoC, a 64-bit quad core ARM processor running at 1.2 GHz. This accounts for around 10 times the performance of the original Raspberry Pi. The board also includes built in WiFi 802.11N and Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy (BLE) for connectivity, as well as the usual RJ45 jack for wired networking.
The board features improved power management, with up to 2.5 amps on the USB ports combined. The GPIO header is backwards compatible, and the other usual ports are still there.
The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B will be priced around US$35, the same as the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B.
