Some people golf. Personally I mess with PCs and PC related hardware as my money and time sinking hobby. Its fun, frustrating ,relaxing, infuriating and rewarding.... You get the idea.
Here is the latest project. Nothing fancy here. Just a straight build using a SSFF (sorta small form factor) chassis to house this beautiful blue beast known as the Asus P9x79 Pro Motherboard.
Full specs as follows:
P9x79 Pro (used. I'm the second owner)
Xeon e5 1650 v2 (ebay mint condition-- seriously arrived looking brand new)
16Gb in 4x4 quad channel Corsair Vengeance DDR3 at 1600 (used)
Corsair H100iv2 AIO (already had on hand -- has a solid year or so on it so far)
Silverston SFXL 500w PSU (used --purchased here on the forum)
Inland (Microcenter house brand) 240g SSD OS drive (New.. 26 bucks!)
Intel 660p 1Tb m.2 SSD -- will be installed via PCIE to M.2 adaptor when the adaptor arrives. ( new )
MSI 1660 Gaming X GPU (open box at Microcenter )
Asus PCIE dual band WIFI card (new )
Thermaltake G3 ATX slim tower (new )
System is operational at present and really is snappy considering the age of the platform. I have yet to OC the CPU but that will definitely happen once the 1Tb drive is installed. Again this is a straight up build with nothing too fancy and the only modding needed was snipping some of the rear of the case for the PCIE wifi card.
Here is a shot of the build so far.
Here is a shot next to my main which is in the Cerberus X. Note how compact the CerbX really is! The Thermaltake G3 is also fairly svelte at 454 x 140 x 371 mm (17.9 x 5.5 x 14.6 inches)
Thanks for looking and don't forget to share builds of your own!
Cheers all,
James
