I know it's an expensive option, but what is out there that I can use to save space compared to an SFX PSU?

* Needs to be all internal - no external bricks
* 300W capacity
* Take up less volume than an SFX PSU
* Have a 6 pin PCI-E connector

I'm pretty sure even the 160w plug and play unit can provide well over what is in the name. Some where around 250w.

Smallest internal is a 3x5 platform power supply. About 1/2 the size of an SFX, requires you to use a plug-in dc board.

They come in 300W, 400W flavors. I built one here with an EPP-300-12.

The HDPLEX soon to be released AC-DC 300W PSU + their 300W DC-DC board is the smallest non-DIY power supply though.

The HDPlex 300W AC-DC should be released in the next week or two is 136mm x 62mm x 41mm (0.35L) and is fully enclosed and heatsinked. Compare this to the Meanwell EPP 300-24 at 127mm x 76.2mm x 35mm (0.34) which is open frame and needs active cooling to achieve 300W. If you combine the HDPlex with my Kmpkt Dynamo (will have demos and photos next week paired with the HDPlex 300W AC-DC) with production versions hopefully coming in May/June), you could get your entire power solution in a 136 x 62 x 67 package with 2 x 8 pin PCIe connectors, a SATA connector and full power to a NuC or Mini STX motherboard. For reference, this is 0.56L while a regular SFX power supply occupies about 0.80L

Blimey, I go to work for a bit, and the replies have avalanched in!
Thanks all, I must now sit down and watch Josh's video, as I haven't seen it.

Can't believe I missed that super compact build by @Thehack - good photos to see a piece PSU solution in action.

Even if the solution that @Kmpkt has suggested is 'only' 25% smaller than an SFX, it will be more flexible as with an 'ATX plug' solution, you lose a lot of the PSU to mobo 'spaghetti'.
Also, I guess you can fit the AC-DC board somewhere where there's room and run a suitable DC cable to the second part of the system.
The space needed for the AC-DC board being 1/2 the size of an SFX PSU means that you have more choice of where it can go, as you may have more small spaces in the case than large ones.

At the moment, I'm messing round with trying to fit an SFX PSU into the front of an SG05 where the fan usually goes, but another project may also benefit from something smaller & more flexible than SFX.

Skull Canyon NUC; weeeeeeeeeeeell, I like NUCs, but don't need one. That SC is pretty extreme compared to one of the standard little cubes, and out of my budget.

My SFF requirements would really have to include something like GTX 1060 level graphics, which no current IGP can achieve.

Thanks again guys

I've got a similar question, but I'm actually looking for something very specific - I'm looking for a 450watt FSP 1U PSU in case I decide to Frankenstein my current case (an MSI Nightblade MI2.)
