Fixed my problem with the MFC crimper by loosening the screw on the bottom teeth and very slightly adjusting it to the left.  (Like literally less than a milimeter).  Also ended up tightening the release to maximum pressure because I think pushing the crimper all the way is causing it to misalign.  I now use the lever for releasing the ratchet.

I will add that the MFC crimper seems to put asymmetrical pressure on the crimps.  Sometimes my crimps are a little crooked. Oh well
