Hey all,
I'm trying to do some testing of OCuLink vs. USB4/TB3 eGPU performance on my UM780XTX and I'm getting a tonne of PCIe/WHEA errors.
My first suspect is the cable that's been battered around a bit while moving house, since I last used it.
Given this, I'm looking to see if anyone has managed to find any cables that are slightly more robust? I wish OCuLink cables weren't just braided nylon with a bunch of loose wires in them, fine for internal or relatively static cables but for something that's meant to be portable it does NOT fill me with confidence.
FWIW - using USB4 to TB3 NVMe to M.2 PCIe adapter works well, and is easy, and can be plugged/unplugged while in the OS, yes there's some performance lost because of the 40Gbps limit and protocol overhead but it 'Just works'
Anyways - looking to see if anyone has had a GOOD experience with any particular OCuLink (SFF-8611) cables??
