No AI was used in the writing of this article…unless we’re actually just a simulation. In that case, am I the AI?

Nvidia has announced its first entry into the Microsoft Windows PC processor market that they have named the RTX Spark. The RTX Spark is an ARM architecture based APU that utilizes up to 20 ARM CPU cores, and 6,144 Nvidia Blackwell GPU cores. It features a unified memory architecture featuring up to 128GB of RAM. The hilarious part about talking about local AI models...is the massive amount of pretending that local AI won't get instantly SaaS enshittified as soon as it is normie-possible. Because that is what is going to happen. No one is going to keep publishing models for free once it becomes possible for people other than Strix Halo users to run models locally.

The good news...

The AI bubble is close to popping. Even the one IRL Infinite Money Glitch of "Defense" spending subsidized by taxpayers isn't enough to keep this bubble going...Jensen literally is admitting he needs "AI Agents" to be his "customers"...which if that sounds a lot like AI bots are needed, to justify building all these AI chips, for AI bots, who need AI chips--and is just circular financing--that is because it is.

It seems like such a heavy investment into AI tech without too much tangible reward for the average person. I’d like to read about how AI discovered new cancer treatments or solved the fusion problem, but instead the headlines are mostly about AI induced layoffs and celebrity deep fakes.

That stuff is out there. But it is buried, because niche highly specialized use cases--which are the bread and butter of LLM and machine learning, are NOT sexy things that get Wall Street speculators to gamble massive amounts of money. Ars actually two articles about it today:
