My pleasure meeting you!

Hey gentlemen! I am new to this forum. But have been reading it quite a lot. Been a fan of SFF pc's for a little while (about 1 year).

My first build was in SGKC 39 with AsRock B650, Ryzen 7700x, RTX 4060 LP and a Silverstone SFX PSU for 600w - currently moved to Ikea skadis being open wall mounted PC with RX9070XT & the same setup for my wife, but with a 9070 non-XT version (don't ask me, long story, the price difference was only about couple of tens of eur) :)

Currently I am at work ( I work offshore on oil rigs) and that is main reason I wanted a SFF pc or a handheld with great APU (I have been using a OneXPlayer X1 Pro with 64gb, 2TB and HX370 but it's quite small and not that powerful for the titles I throw at it.

I will be at home after 4 weeks, but I have ordered a lot of stuff which I am new to: that being the Minisforum MS-A2 32GB DDR5 + a Maxsun single-slot 3050 low profile (I have a 2 slot 3050 laying around as well, which I want to put there and use with no covers, but then decided that it would be my main travel rig instead of the OneXPlayer), and a HTPC 3.9L build with the same 4060LP, 5600x, 32gb ddr5 and new to me PICO PSU for 300w (need to try it IRL, have been reading a lot about it, we will see...)

So that would be it from my side, I am glad to be officially a part of your community! Still a learning curve for me, but you guys are amazing! The forum has been very helpful!

Cheers, Tom.

Welcome to the forum!

I do have some friends with similar SFF use case. Instead of oil & gas, they work in shipping industry, so they stay in the ocean for quite some time.

You mentioned that you are looking into Minisforum with 3050 low profile GPU, and the 4060LP in a 3.6L build.. I guess you know your stuff, those are pretty decent config.

Depending on the brand, a good 300 watt Pico PSU should be able to handle those. I personally prefer TFX though, or FlexATX if you want to go smaller (but louder).

Hey man! Thanks for the kind words! You actually got me thinking yesterday, and since I spied one idea from another fellow builder in regards to the positioning of TFX (or similar) PSU into my case (A09, and I've got the A09M), I have decided to cancel the PICO PSU order since it's all open and could short somewhere (maybe..), and ordered the TFX PSU and will try to build with it!

Will keep you updated! Will post the builds here hehe. Also I have ordered out of curiosity the SGW ZONE 4080m eGPU, due to it being an MXM it seems like a very interesting concept & piece of equipment which I would like to have my hands on!

Cheers, Tom.

Yeah actually TFX is an interesting format because it's really a nice middle ground between SFX and FlexATX. Too bad it doesn't gain much popularity. But I know some well known vendor make good TFX PSU, for example Silverstone.

Yes please do post your build logs! Here's a quick link for you Builds | SFF.Network

Hey man, great to hear from you again! I've ordered one TFX from aliexpress, the PICO TFX PSU, which is a little bigger then HDPlex Gan PSU. And I actually realised that I have silverstone FX600 Platinum for one of my builds (first it was in the K39C, then went onto my wall build, and when I upgraded to the RX9070XT it went to my wife's build :D

Unfortunately I still have around 3-4 weeks left of my trip offshore, but as soon as I get home I will start tinkering with all the stuff (been reading a lot about Homelabbing, pfsense, own VPN etc, so this would be my next hobby (use case for minisforum ms-a2). As well as I have ordered the Lecoo Pro 14 ultrabook with oculink to test it out with my Morefine G1 4080m.

A lot of stuff coming and I have been thinking of making some videos for our community as I seem to find very little videos/reviews on this equipment unfortunately...

Speak to you soon! Wanna WhatsApp about some our nerdy stuff maybe? :D I have no friends and my wife doesn't seem to be interested in that XD
