News HP EliteDesk 805 G6: Compact PC with up to AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G opt GTX1660 6GB GDDR6 <2L, up to 7 displays

This came out 2 weeks ago but hadn't seen anything on it, appears to have an M.2 mini GTX1660 card(my guess), up to 7 displays. I have the last gen5 Intel Prodesk 8500T based which I have really been impressed with, basically 7"x7"x1.35".
https://liliputing.com/2020/09/hp-elitedesk-805-g6-compact-pc-with-up-to-amd-ryzen-7-pro-4750g.html

Intel version available as well, details still thin on HP site
https://www8.hp.com/us/en/desktops/business/elitedesk-800.html

It would appear the section circled in red is the optional GTX1660, the display port circled in blue can be changed to HDMI with a small module change which I did on mine. Shows 2x M.2 2280 slots which my Prodesk has as well as M.2 Wifi and some sort of proprietary PCIE connector I believe for the swappable display plug. Mine also had 1 SATA slot & cage but I removed to install 2nd M.2. The SATA cage would have been about where the GPU is on the new one.

To get a look inside the older ones, here's a write up/teardown that I did.

Amazing amount of video outputs, 6 DisplayPorts in that config ! Interesting about the discrete GPU, I'd love to see it.

I have an older model of this that came with a 6700T. It's an impressive design, but one that is very thermal limited. I would be very impressed if HP pulled this off without it sounding like a jet engine at full throttle anytime the GPU gets hit.

My 8500T has never gotten as loud as my X1 carbon laptop but am curious how the thermals are managed with the gpu as they must be sharing exhaust vent in back

Dead bump – I’m looking at one of these machines to replace an older gen HP Mini (Wife’s ‘office’ PC). This is a machine that I would be using a couple times a week as needed, so I would want it spec’d out. I really like the idea of getting a 1660 Ti in this small of a form factor, it will increase its’ usability. Frankly, I’m shocked it is not talked about more here (price?). Does anyone else have one of these newer units with the dGPU?

The intel tax is still a real thing. Spec v. spec the Intel variant is over $200 more expensive.

Intel I7-10700T / 1660 Ti - $1312.21
AMD R7 Pro 4750GE / 1660 Ti - $1098.90

I've tried to find just a review, nothing. Went thru a build on the HP store the 4750 is a 35w GE version built it with Freedos and 1660ti price wasnt horrible (minimal ram and ssd).

I was tempted to pull the trigger on it but if you take the 1660 you get stuck with a 35w CPU option ... and only 4k Ryzen cpu option at that !
If only they included a 5k Ryzen CPU I would pull the trigger on one.
Also, estimated delivery date seems to be Mid SEPTEMBER at this stage !
I ended up opting for a Pavilion with RTX 3070 and 5600G for almost the same price.

It’s best, but no I haven’t bought one. If I get something prebuilt, it would be a Zotac Magnus.

I was looking at the Magnus from day 1 but they are hardly available in my country and are selling for almost 1.8x list price...

I think that should fit but looking at some teardowns it seems that the GPU connector is missing on the motherboard unless you specifically order the dGPU version from HP.

Hi everyone.

Yeah, I've been following this since September 2020. The wait time was 6 months back then.

Suspect C19/logistics stopped it from going ahead? Probably the 1660 ti itself (speculation). On HP's website I can't even find a reference to the 1660ti part, that's not a portable?
'course, its been superseded by the 3050 now.

Vexing.

Anyway... Here's the direct link to all the 805's:

I looked for the part number this morning, I could not find it (1660ti dgpu). Lead times are down on both, compared to once upon a time. 800 series (Intel) is 40 days, 805 series (Amd) is 20 days. I see they have also bumped the Amd version to the 5000 GE series of CPU.I have not been keeping up on this product (thread). I ended up getting a Phantom Canyon to replace the device that brought this thread to my attention. At the time it was cheaper, same(ish) foot print, had less lead time, and came with the 2060 v. the 1660ti. Overall I have been happy with Phantom Canyon. For me it’s not enough for a daily, as it only has 4c/8t. It works just fine for the few times a month I use it. I will move this bookmark back to the top of the list. Seeing as they have updated the CPU in the AMD version, I would like to see either the 800 or 805 get updated to a dGPU w/ 8+GB of vram (RTX 3050?). That would peak my interest again.

This is great info, thank you. 3050 ti only goes up to 4GB, right? That is fitting. I want 8GB, Nv says “no” you can have 4GB.
