I would really like to see more keyboard-computer combos as custom case builds. I know some old Apples have been modded for them, but those are spacious compared to the C64's.

That's a thing I've been working on in the past, but with smaller oompf in mind to keep size small (3.5" SBC, pico-ITX, QSeven, COM-express, LattePanda, etc....). Never went past the "concept" stage due to lack of time and funds.

There are several way to make a custom keyboard, from a mechanical keyboard kit (and only keep plate + switches + PCB) ... to hard wirring the matrix directly to an arduino ...

There are adapters to connect the stock keyboard to PS2/USB. Gotta get used to the layout, but it's as retro as it gets...
