Log ASRock Deskmeet X300 Ryzen 5600X + 3050 build. Is it feasible? How do people deshroud GPUs?

Hello! I am planning a build in a Deskmeet X300 with a 5600X and an RTX 3050 from EVGA that's 202mm roughly. The maximum length for GPUs in this barebones case is only 200mm. Do you think I could shave enough length off by removing the shroud? And how do you hold the aftermarket fans on? I know deshrouding is relatively common, but I've never done it before.

Good luck! It looks like it might be doable, as going by the pictures of the card there is a slight overhang of the plastic shroud over the heatsink. But those heatpipes look like they end awfully close - no way of knowing until you've got the hardware in hand. Heatpipes are quite ductile though, and can typically be bent slightly to get them out of the way if needed.

As for attaching fans: zip-ties (either around the PCB or through any available unused holes in the board) is the simplest way. Double aided foam tape can also work. If it's close enough and there are provisions for it, mounting to the case might be an option. And of course custom 3D printed brackets can often be used.

I popped a Zotac GTX 1070 mini in there and that's 210mm. It took me taking off the rear I/O shield and literally taking apart the GPU outside of the PC, slotting in the bare GPU PCB into the chassis, and then putting the GPU back together while it was in the slot. However, it worked and without shaving down anything so yeah, a 210mm GPU will fit fine with some work, and so should a 202mm GPU. Additionally, a YouTuber I watched managed to fit a 201.8mm GPU in it by angling the GPU while putting it in so I'd assume you'd have to do the same.
