Samsung (one of the main sources) has opened up another factory, so hopefully that will help them start to meet demand. @3lfk1ng's projection seems reasonable.

That’s probably around when I’m building anyway, let’s hope that stays true

Is that the one in July 2017? I read somewhere the new China fab would only complete in 2019 o_o

I expect the prices to come down in the first half of 2018. BUT high prices may be even carried tru whole next year. It is a thing no one can predict, not even manufacturers.

Demand is high(especially with HPC and phone market grabbing as much as possible) and it will be higher; manufacturing plants take time to build and are often expensive; it will take time for the chips to get to RAM, SSD and other manufacturers and to distribute the product to sellers.

One thing to be looking forward is Intel's Optane RAM modules, which costs less than the current models. It should really put some competition in storage market.
