Causing me some confusion...........I would like to change a power supply connector..............It is rated for 300 watt at 12 volts. which gives 25 amps
The type I would like to use is rated 5 amps at 400 volts..... which gives 2000 watts.
Really not sure of how to compare the 2 types and specs.

The two cannot be compared directly using just Watts: Current rating is mostly to do with diameter of the conductor and temperature tolerance of the conductor and insulator(s). Voltage rating is mostly to do with breakdown voltage of the insulators.

If you have a connector that needs to carry 25 Amps at 12 Volts, then the new connector needs to be rated to carry at least 25 Amps at 12 Volts.

Thanks EdZ, much what I thought.. I will see if there is an alternative rating, using 12 volt instead of 400 from the manufacturer.
