I use it as an intake, blowing onto the ram and chipset/m.2 ssd. I read that its better for temps and didn’t really bother comparing a lot. also blowing onto the chipset kinda emulates the pch fan and that was a pro for me… no clue if push or pull is better

good to know, I havent seen that before. The alpenföhn cooler is intended for that orientation. as you can see in my pic the find are almost exactly the size of the itx board. in other orientations the io side doesnt fit.

if you want the best cooling performance in the sentry you need the alpenföhn black ridge. It only fits on gigabyte boards though, because of the socket placement. with normal low profile ram you can use a 92mm fan, if you get special vlp form factor memory you can even use a 120mm fan. afaik...

no, Im using it with the 120mm slim noctua fan with vlp memory. I also had to remove the vrm fan, but it hasnt been a problem at all so far. the 92mm fan should also work though.

I used the C7G with the noctua fan on the asrock x570 itx board. it didnt have enough power to keep my 3800x cool. go with gigabyte board and alpenföhn black ridge if you wanna go air cooled.

I dont have a 4.0 ssd right now, but in my aorus x570 itx board with the newest bios (F30, ready for ryzen 5000 series) there is only this option regarding pcie slot configuration.

I know I dont need it for the gpu. but I have to set my pcie speeds to 3.0 in bios so my 5700xt doesnt crash. that also slows down other pcie 4.0 devices in my system to 3.0 speeds. so if I went with pcie 4.0 ssds they would be limited to 3.0 performance because my gpu is on 3.0

Has anyone found a pcie 4.0 riser that is compatible with the sentry yet? with 3090s and 6x00xt cards coming I think it's time to upgrade to pcie 4.0 but I havent found any riser boards/cables that could fit the case yet.

they dont come with any xmp profile, they only have jdec standard speeds. so I had to do this manually. I am using the x570 aorus board from gigabyte, because only gigabytes am4 boards fit in the sentry with the riser and the black ridge cooler. The timings I am using are 18-20-20-20-46 at 1.38V

I guess one of the logical improvements for a 2.1/3.0 version would be a pcie 4.0 riser. if this is the case, I would appreciate it a lot if you could sell them seperately for previous owners of the sentry. It really is the only thing I would want to have improved about my beautiful sentry 2.0...

With my A12x15 on my Black Ridge V2 with liquid metal as thermal paste on my 3800x (aorus itx board) the fan is pretty much silent when set as intake The GPU is louder at basically any non idle load, and at idle the cpu fan is pretty much not noticeable.

and even if it would fit, the dimm.2 card definitely doesnt fit, so you would end up with an overpriced mainboard without m.2 connectors.
