Log SMALLEST ATX CASE : CERBERUS-X (Complete build log)

I've been through the same thought process about displays. I have a 32" 4K Gsync IPS and figured I'd just have to accept 60Hz & no HDR for a long time yet as this unit is the best compromise for my needs. Then I bought an LG C9 during the black friday sales and I have to say, very rarely have...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

I had plans to 3D print a bunch of parts to route air inside the case, in particular shrouds for the GPU and C14S to exhaust hot air from the case rather than dumping it to mix inside. And maybe some ducting to get nice flow over secondary heat sources like VRMs, drives etc. I also wanted to...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Cerb-X will take 2x 280 (with 15mm fans on bottom rad), but Marcello said Cerberus so I guess he has the smaller case? The website says the regular Cerb can fit 2x 240, again with some fan limitations. Confusingly the same section also says max of 1x 240 + 1x 120.

Bigger margin than I was guessing. Very helpful, thanks!

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

I'm actually tempted :) My thinking for going air was a bit more weight reduction + fluid elimination is good for travel but my need for this is questionable now anyway. How much clearance does the Apogee need? Currently I have SFX-L 800 on the front but maybe a future rebuild could see the...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Did you discover anything interesting about these two? I'm very interested as my H100i just died and I'm just about to buy a replacement cooler.

Indeed. I found it remarkable how despite the size there always seems to be a solution even with huge parts because its so flexible.

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Flex ATX uses a subset of mATX standoffs so anything that takes mATX should also take FlexATX. Regular Cerberus is optimized for mATX. Cerberus X is the same in nearly every way except it's 3 expansion slots taller and it does not have the bottom row of mATX stand offs. mATX boards will fit...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

The front panel is flat apart from the 'bevel' at the sides, ie the center flat section is a little narrower than the full width of the case. That said, the cutouts in the front panel side section seem plenty big enough for air flow. Modding the front would only seem necessary if you were...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Pretty sure if you select the +$10 option for Pearl White that is to cover the material cost of the premium powder coat and since that applies to a complete standard set of panels it will also cover the substitute +$20 windowed panel. The +$40 windowed panel options on the parts tab are stand...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Kind of. It will mount but lacking the bottom row of standoffs so you'd want some stick-on stand offs for that. So not officially supported, but possible.

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Marc, thanks for the corrections. Regarding mITX in Cerberus it is listed as supported on the Sliger site, perhaps it's required to specify when ordering rather than ? Regarding rads I'll split the difference with you; 280 on bottom should be ok, same footprint down there as Cerb-X after all...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Yes. Bottom can take up to 280. You can fit a pair of 240 (bottom & front) but thickness of rads & fans will matter. A 240 will also fit on the side bracket above the CPU. There are various caveats; If front mounting a rad then the PSU needs to go in its alternate location on the back...

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

No CPU, just a very coooool motherboard. (panel mod for window = +1.5mm clearance) Makes an interesting point though, the base flexibility of the chassis makes a lot of potential for modular parts to extend that. An early contender would be a deeper front cover to accommodate full size fans...
