Nice Hades Canyon setup. Could you share a link for the aftermarket power adaptor from Taobao? I noticed it's much smaller than the OE adaptor. Is the adaptor any good to handle reasonably heavy load, e.g. 3D gaming / CAD modeling? Hades Canyon is quite power hungry for an NUC.

Found out why. I've been on the older v1.2 BIOS. Just updated to the latest v1.8, and the PCI-E Gen selection is now added in the AMD PBS section. I guess Asrock really rushed thru the launch of this motherboard...

I noticed you've changed the fan orientation for the comparison (intake / exhaust). The temp drop might be mainly due to the air flow direction change. It'll be good if you could compare just the mounting method change. For myself I've only briefly tried IS-47K stock mount screws (no backplate)...

R3600. Highest gaming temp was 68~70degC when room ambient temperature was 25~28degC earlier this year (Forza Horizon 4 / Fallout 4 / DCS 1080p). CPU was stock setting. Right now, CPU temps could barely exceed 60degC when room temp is just under 20degC.

Fan speed on these types of Flex PSU is controlled by current / power load, there's no smart speed control like PWM on motherboards. Try use a multimeter to see if there's any reading from the fan connector at all, if not, you've got a bad sample.
