    S4M + HDPlex400 brickless - powering & grounding

No kidding.... You know, I think most people who build their own rigs too, at least if you don't really have huge budget constraints, I've heard the phrase "better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it." So.... Down the road I probably will install the c6, just not today.

    S4M + HDPlex400 brickless - powering & grounding

Sorry, I should clarify my thought process at least. When OP said "C8 bad bad" I was like, well I already wired it up.... and it seems fine, so why bad bad? Is it going to degrade and fry my system in time? That is why I was confused initially. One response was more or less urgently "hurry up...

    S4M + HDPlex400 brickless - powering & grounding

I do apologize if I've been misleading. I promise I'm not here to be a troll and I don't want to "poison the well" so to speak.... As I said, my interest was in terms of functionality, and I am thankful for the input. Technically I went to school to study electronics, but it's been so long since...

    S4M + HDPlex400 brickless - powering & grounding

I wouldn't say don't wear a seatbelt, I would say it's more like........ Most cars have a 3-point belt, and this is adequate........ Racing cars have a 5-point harness....... Sure it never hurts to have more, but you don't really need it on the day-to-day.

    S4M + HDPlex400 brickless - powering & grounding

..........Ahhh, huh. I admit my mindset was more.... "how does this affect functionality, efficiency, voltage sag, etc?" A quest for information, nothing more. I already put it together and not going to change what I did with the ground wire...... I see now that it is simply redundant, if...

    S4M + HDPlex400 brickless - powering & grounding

Thank you. I do have continuity at least through the mid-frame in my S4 (the shell pieces show open on my meter), is it too small in mass to function as a chassis ground? In reading HDplex's own website, it says (tl;dr) the power supply is designed to handle itself without the need for a proper...

    S4M + HDPlex400 brickless - powering & grounding

Hello and welcome! I’m also new to this, just built mine within the last month (and still tweaking). I also use the HDplex 400, but I actually went with the c8. So far I see no indication of anything "bad" about this, but if you have some info to help clarify, I’m all ears. I attached the ground...

    S4M - Ryzen 3600 Idle Temperatures

I have a 2700 with the same cooler, and undervolted with an offset of -80mV. I get similar idle temps, while during stress test it tops out at 71c. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you leave the fan curve at its default settings I "think" its range is like 800-1800 rpm, maybe...

    HDPlex 400 watt Compatible GPUs

Just an update I think is important for anyone following this thread. I got the case and like a kid on Christmas, ripped open the box and got to building in it right away. Well, sort of. In doing a test fit I realized something quite glaring, that my graphics card will not fit, even after taking...

S4M brickless build with MSI RTX 2070 Aero ITX

I'm running into a similar issue using a 1660 ti mini card from Zotac. In my situation, the card will fit with room to spare.... but the PCI power connector does not.... even with the cover of the AC-DC converter removed. Currently awaiting low-profile cable extensions from this site...

In which we try (and fail) to mount a HDPlex power supply.... :)

Hi all, hope you like my title theft. :) Just got my new S4 mini enclosure today, gotta say was like a kid on Christmas.... So anyway I'm starting the build and mounting the power supply has presented an interesting challenge. Using the HDPlex 400W combo kit, I got the AC-DC converter fixed to...

lmao that thing is obnoxious! But it makes for a cool show piece. Have you seen Bitwit's all Asus ROG build? It's nice but OMG bright lights everywhere.

Asus ROG Strix X570-i + AMD 3700X in an S4M

dnpp123, from what I can tell just by looking, I'd be willing to bet that board works good. And the extra fan by the PCI connector is a nice bonus. But please don't take my word for it, I only just put in a pre-order on the next batch for a S4. The max TDP for the L9i/a, as far as I have read...

    HDPlex 400 watt Compatible GPUs

Hello, I'm new to the community, hope I'm not too late responding. I've kind of eye-balled the S4 mini for a while but wasn't too crazy about having to use a laptop brick for what (in my eyes) is "supposed to" be a full-featured-but-portable computer. I was sitting on a HDplex 400W combo for a...
