Discussion Performance per litre - Round 4

Very cool build. Are the “columns” stacked standoffs? I really like the sheet metal assembly logic! Is the CPU blowing into the GPU compartment or did you close that side of the heatsink?

Valid point - it does have some vertical prominence! Unfortunately I just missed out to the probably seven 5090fe that Nvidia were offering on their UK website this afternoon - just did not hit refresh fast enough in the 5 seconds that mattered- that means that for the time being, and whilst...

It's actually an amazingly well-suited case for an sff water block: May imply to design one though! The modular layout has the potential for the design of something much smaller than a 1 slot card - now that's really exciting. And I see an opportunity for aftermarket mini-riser-cables that come...

Nah... no retirement in sight here! But why settle for 9800?! guess I'll need to come up with a better plan for cooling though! That's not an update anymore, but a redesign... will be exciting! First step is rather annoying though: Getting hold of that FE kit early on... happy to pool interest...

Log What's the next big small thing?

Hey all, I feel things are getting a bit stagnant in this space as the underlying hardware leaps at the intersection of does-it-run-crysis, and does-it-look-reasonably-small-next-to-a-can-of-coke seem to be rare recently. The only thing I'd bet my money on is that at some point later this year...

    Well-noted - I'll keep a fire extinguisher handy ;) Have just PM'd you... Cheers!

So that's definitely on the shopping list now! Any chance I can bother you for one of your amazing adapter boards?

Very nice! Also drops the “ridge” heat sink, possibly indicating less dependency on air flow… did you test it for air flow / cooling requirements?

    1) yes, modelled it myself - have uploaded it here! 2) No - have not been aware of it! Will need a custom mounting plate though to fit an AM5 hole pattern- but this should be a quite straightforward cut from sheet metal...

Better late an answer than never: Yes, I use it daily - at least where my Mac does not cut it, and that's 3D and games! And yes, agree: GaN Power supplies would appear to be the next low hanging fruit in off-the-shelf PC tech... still nothing out there as it would appear, apart from g-unique's...
