    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Yep that's it - its an AlphaCool DC-LT 2600 (sitting at the bottom) with an Eisstation 40-DC reservoir

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Catch up, episode 2: "Prepare for launch" This (penultimate) instalment of catching up with where I am at currently is about preparing my second Supermicro PWS-606-1r for installation. With the theory of it all figured out at the cost of frying my first one, this should be reasonably...

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Perfect - that's exactly what I have been looking for! Cheers!

    Brickless S4M w/ GTX1080 and i8700k - Dual PSU *completed*

Cheers! Yes I still have it, it’s alive and kicking- use it for VR and 3D work and will do so until my next-Gen version is complete! The project started off with pondering over how I could get a Mac (purely aesthetic choice) VR capable- and eventually realising that rather than investing into...

    4x non-blower 1080 Ti in a Cerberus X

I think this sounds like a *great* idea - pushing boundaries is what it's all about!

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

It has been a while and a lot happened - both to the build, not necessarily taking it to completion in a straight line, but hopefully down an (even) more exciting route, and IRL, getting in the way of keeping my posts up-to-date, so I’ll start with a few “episodes” of “catch up”: Episode 1 -...

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

interesting - not sure about the GPU though - but I'll get some for my next take on the PSU!

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

There definitely is - I already have something in mind once everything is up and running. The simplest way to upgrade appearance is a piece of transparent sheathing - I'm quite confident by now though that I'll be able to squeeze in something slightly more metallic to also help with cooling!

    A300-M(ax): A watercooled sandwich style a300M build!

Haven’t checked in in a while- great progress! What do you plan for the enclosure?

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Do you use the Eisstation 40-DC mini res/pump combo or just the acrylic pump top shown in your pictures? Have changed my design halfway through to include for the res when it came out, it’s only a tiny bit larger than the pump top and appears to have a bubble filter that works rather well. It...

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Time to close the loop. My-First-Water-Loop-Like-Ever. Exciting, frightening, potentially disastrous. We shall see. But first the rather mundane bits: The fan has a corner earmarked for removal - with the doubled-up PCIe connectors that won't be necessary anymore as they are now the vertical...

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Yep that would do the trick- and make a lot of sense. Wonder whether there is any black thermal pad?

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Made quite good progress over the last few days! With the cover cut, the GPU is good for assembly: As the gaskets have been exposed to air and dried out by now, I dug out a tube of silicone grease... ...and re-lubricate them to make for a tight seal. The perspex top goes back onto the...

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Yeah any form of added airflow will be what this thing needs... or I just install an AC in my place - had that planned for this summer anyway! Have also been pondering over slightly cheaper alternatives and figured that a NF-F12 would fit as a (noisy) plan B with some modding to the frame...

    S4MAX: Brickless S4M w/ 2080ti and R9 3950x - 600w - on water

Next component to tackle is the GPU block: For it to sit low enough in the case and provide as little obstruction to airflow as possible, it will have to lose some material along the lines marked up earlier: Original plan was to use a friend's router for this- as the corona lockdown got into...
