See above. How much heat can they realistically spread? 180 watts worth? If the sheet is really thin, then do we really have to worry much about the z axis?
It's working just fine, actually :) Still plenty of improvement to make though. I'm not really getting full use of my gtx 1080 since it throttles quite a bit at full load. I have been thinking through some new redesigns...
Can you find an appropriate one to purchase? I could not.
I have...
I can solve the GPU/CPU etc being fanless. I'm asking specifically: How could I get a fanless meanwell psu up to 400 watts? Which components on the PSU would i need to heat sink? Would just doing that be enough? Would I need to run two PSUs to do it?
What sort of voodoo would be required for this to run full-power components like a 250w GPU and 85w processor... fanless? Would you need multiple units? Could you replace the small included heatsinks with much larger ones?
Not a chance. The chassis is open-air and there is plenty of ventilation. It's been running at full tilt for days now without incident. It doesn't even get warm :)
The GPU side is complete now, and performing famously. Let's talk CPU/Mobo/Ram, power supply and SSDs. I've made a motherboard tray out of black acrylic. Here we are cutting it to size:
And cutting a notch for it to slide cleanly into the aluminum extrusion
Drilling each...
