Discussion New Noctua cooler - NH D12L

I had a chance to fit this Noctua NH D12L to my Streacom DA2 v1 today. In the East to West configuration it wouldn't fit due to the IEC cable. It's probably about 1-2mm too large. I think pushing the back-plate and mounting parts, and then screwing down the cooler all to the North as far as...

Discussion New Noctua cooler - NH D12L

I'm just using my Alpenfohn Black Ridge as a guide to be fair. It's not the most compatible cooler. It's 75mm high with the fan on top, but anyone using a fan sucking in over SFF perforations will enjoy the most horrible turbulent noise. Having the same 'block out' space for a 25mm fan and X...

Discussion New Noctua cooler - NH D12L

Having taken a look, it looks like the Thermalright gets the fan really low because it doesn't have the bulky mounting nuts/screws limiting the fan position. Nocuta seem to have maximised the area of the heatsink swept by the fan. And also made it quite a lot deeper. I'd assume they have to...

Discussion New Noctua cooler - NH D12L

I suppose 135mm or even 130mm would mean a 120mm fan wouldn't fit. 145mm seems the limit of a low-mounted 120mm fan in this orientation. The next step is then the 90mm fan, which is then down at the U9 size. Any way, I've ordered one. It has 20% more heat pipe, and I'd say a good 25% more...

Log Jonsplus i100 Pro (not quite SFF)

I'd been close to buying one of these, fitting my old NH D14 cooler (with new Chromax fans!), and enjoying the silence. But given the new 145mm tall cooler from Noctua I'll be sticking with my DA2 for a bit longer to see if I can tame the sound vs temps compromise. This case is definitely a...

Discussion New Noctua cooler - NH D12L

https://noctua.at/en/noctua-presents-nh-d12l-low-height-120mm-dual-tower-cpu-cooler Looks great for bigger SFF stuff. The step between the bigger coolers and then the U9 was so large, so it's great to see they've got one in the middle now!

I'd kinda wobbled on the front panel choice because the silver button didn't go too well with black. But then the silver front is a bit marmite. Black panel with silver button. Some new buttons ordered to try out. All momentary switches. Feel very similar to the Sliger button. The LED ones...

Onward with the project! I've been a bit busy with work, but managed to get the computer up and running and Windows installed so I could tinker with it. Last weekend I picked up a spare GPU just to get me by until I could figure out what I needed and waiting for prices to drop. Quadro 410. A...

Well the NF A15 fits ok! With those clips it's probably just touching the case ceiling... though I intend to fit some kind of squishy ducting to give the fan a great seal to the intake perforations to get any chance of recirculation of case air down to near zero.

A few more parts arrived today. I'd been considering the A12x25 to run on my Alpenfohn Black Ridge. It leaves 2mm clearance, and is a pretty nice fan. It's still louder than I'd like at 1000rpm+, but under that point it seems to really quieten down and yet still cool a heatsink really well...

Initially I'd not wanted to pay for Sliger direct, or wait over a month for Density.sk, so went for a used one on eBay. The expected delivery date had come and gone, with no word from the seller, so I messaged them to say not to bother posting as I had no idea when it'd be sent if ever, and...

The parts have started arriving! The Sliger case has just flown in from the USA and is arriving today. Asus Strix B550 i ITX (run one in another computer, no issues, stick to what you know I suppose?) AMD 5600X (plenty for lounge PC/gaming) Corsair SF750 (runs without fan in my 3950X and...

Discussion UK imports, what did you pay? Is this right?

Well my Sliger case is inbound. The speed has been really fast. Delivery tomorrow apparently and I only ordered it on Friday. Obviously there is a premium for this speed. I'll update on all my costs/experience for others doing a Sliger import to the UK direct. It's all very straight forward to...

Asus TUF 30 Series Shroud MOD in NCASE M1

Yeah I think ducts and air management are really important in SFF. I'm about to do a Sliger HTPC build and plan to 3D print panels and ducts to get air where it needs to go. It's even easier these days with things like iPhone/iPad Pros having the lidar scanner so you can get detailed enough...

Discussion Consistency of location of a cpu socket, relative to the board?

Just in case you hadn't looked, the HDPlex cases are interesting in this regard. They've been around a while and utilise a system across many sockets from a universal mount. Also they have a GPU kit, which obviously has a fair bit of variation scope dimensionally too. Cheeers
