I voted ITX and air. I'm fine if it also supports mATX though. Mostly concerned that it doesn't get wider, esp because there are now multiple cases in that 180-190mm width

The C4 (and theoretically the Evo M1 v2) were right in that 167mm or so width, just allowing an NH-D12L to fit in. The R1 is about 20mm wider, so it's not really in the same category.

To me, the biggest issue is the lack of availability of ITX length GPUs. That's been a problem for a while now, and I don't see anything making it better anytime soon.

You presumably already had them, but for what it's worth, you can buy the Chromax version with the L9i speeds (without the L9i cooler).

Velka has posted that any motherboard with an integrated i/o shield will not fit in properly.

The Noctua slim fan will definitely be quieter, but it’s smaller and will push less air. IIRC the suggestion for the prolimatech is to set a custom fan curve, trying to keep it below 600rpm or so, at least most of the time.

The dark rock tf problems aren’t with the height but with the motherboard. Top down coolers can have issues with clearance over some motherboard components, and depending on the location of the socket, might overhang the board.
