Discussion How do you go about adding new zip-tie holes/mounting points to a case?

You could try magnets, they are easier to remove, but really expensive and only work on steel cases

I just found another 100W USB-C charger on Kickstarter Mopoint: World's Smallest 100W GaN USB-C Charger

Yes if you look at the 3D drawing it looks like two 100W units in the same case. A competitor has a stackable 100W and you can stack 16 chargers for 1600W total power, but you are still limited to 100W per USB-C. For PC use a Corsair AX1600i is better. Would you prefer a big ox or lots of...

News New small (GaN) 300W power brick

The problem with the 200W kickstarter plug-in psu is that it is a true dualrail PSU, i.e. only up to 100 W per USB-C connector. This means that is made for charging two 100W devices at the same time, not for powering DC-ATX 24-pin plugin boards. It is made for Apple style devices, because that...

This is incorrect, Navitas is fabless, they only design and sell the GaN chips. The press release says that Navitas and nVidia made the reference design for the charger. Navitas helps customers design products with their chips, and the customers manufacture the end-products. Just like intel...

Production SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

On my old Lian Li PC-Q07 black aluminium Mini-ITX PC case the thin M3 standoffs on the side panels were invisible on the brushed anodized outside, but messy on the inside, so i think that they maybe friction welded them, but i don't know what to look for. PS I had no idea that it was that...

I was thinking of a magnetic knife rack, but my knives are all .25 kg or lighter. I hadn't considered interference from external magnets in harddrives. Each harddisk has a rare earth magnet and a voice coil to move the arm. A strong external magetic field will interfere with this...

Why isn't this in the manual. I always read the manual before I buy expensive things, to make sure that nothing is hidden in the fine print. I disagree about repainting. It is an enthusiast thing for showbuilds, no ordinary person repaints their appliances. I would rather know if the steel is...

Sorry about my unclear question. I meant to say: Is is safe to use the wrong fasteners to assemble Sentry 2.0, i.e. 6-32 UNC self-tapping screws or even pop-rivets like used in other cases. Update: Just googled long screw damage, and it's mostly an iPhone thing so i am not that worried.

Those charts assume that you manufacture both screw and screw hole. In your case it would mean also making power supplies and harddisk drives like FORD who manufactured all the parts of his Model T in one factory from raw materials. Yes 3.5 inch floppy drives use M3 screws and an 3.5 inch...

There is no "translates to" in mechanics. Your gauge either fits or doesn't. Your coarse thread ISO M3.5 .6 screw has a pitch of 42.3 tpi which is finer than a fine pitch #6-40 UNF ANSI screw, but you need a screw with a pitch of 1/32 american inch (which is 25.4 mm) to have the same pitch as a...

It's much worse than that. If you check wikipedia or intel or SNIA you will notice that the screw size for PC components is specified as ANSI #6-32 UNC, which has a different pitch than ISO M3.5. It will almost fit if you only use a few threads.
