Can also confirm that MTA18ADF2G72AZ-3G2R by Crucial does boot and seems to work as avertised on ASRock Phantom Gaming-I B550 board. Granted it's UDimms, so not Error Correcting.
Can confirm that the MTA18ADF2G72AZ-3G2R does in fact boot on a Phantom Gaming-I B550 board. Have not done serious stress testing but it does report on HWinfo & have yet to experience any instability while either playing my suite of games, including CP2077.
So far, so good. Works as advertised...
I chose the B550 w/ 5800X3D route. Was able to score one for about $50ish off MSRP & I like the concept of the additional L3 cache. I just "retired" my i7, which was Skylake (og 6700K) and it served me very well.
@tinyitx That was the article that renewed my affection for my 1080 mini. It...
I've noticed, that on some (not all) retailers, they have been "trying" to maintain MSRP pricing but they are still trying to offload inventory. AFAIK, B&H and a few others have slipped below "market" prices and even seen a few "Opened box/Returned" items below the next lower tier. So you can...
I am actually doing something similar to with, albeit upgrading my 6700K that has served me faithfully and put up with my abuse over the years (overclocking, watercooling, etc).
Was able to pick up a 5800X3D during the Labor Sales & some 3200 RAM. Also snagged a used AM4 board off of eBay to go...
This comforting news, as I just got confirmation that my 5800X3D shipped today and I was starting to wonder if it would this would even be possible. Will know more next week.
Glad to see it's working out for you.
~ Cheers
I had a feeling it would be possible. I would just very much want a set of VLP sticks that is over 8GB per slot so that I can fit a A12x15 under my Black Ridge. Eger to see if I can ekk out a feel more drops out of my S4M build. We'll see how it goes in the Phantom Gaming-I. Specs say that it's...
I know that @NinoPecorino said that "Registered" ECC would not work but has anyone had much luck with UDimms?
I checked the "Compatibility" list that is on the product page & it said that it would not work in a ASUS Z270i Gaming board. Would that just be their way of saying they haven't tested...
More than likely. I am running a 6700k & 1080 mini in my S4M but without the Dell 330w and instead using the HDP 400 AC-DC as a "power brick".
Provided you don't over clock too much, or better yet undervolt the 8700k and keep an eye on the 1080 power consumption. Should be fine. Look around on...
How is the 750 SSD working out for you?
I have been considering using U.2 drives instead of Sata based SSDs because there don't seem to be very good ones (up to 2-4ish TB).
Maybe I am becoming a data hoarder.
-M.
Does it absolutely have to be "2011"? I would check out Supermicro or ASRock Rack on any of the etailers. They make server boards in all sorts of sizes, some with embedded CPUs so all you have to do is fill it out.
I'm back at square one with picking a case...
Ah I see what you mean by. I wasn't sure how much of the cutout hole was obstructed. I looks to me like you could slide down or over the 400 just a few mils towards to the GPU, provided the 24pin is long enough to sqeeze in a button but I am not sure. It would probably be pretty tight. Might...
As am I. I spent many hours just finding and reading as much as I could to get a basic understanding.
Basically yes. What @Vaderator said. For instance, the HDP200 plugs directly into the 24pin on the motherboard. Then a DC output go from the D360, into the 200. From there the HDP400 A/C will...
