    First off, appreciate all the responses. I'm tapping +12V from SATA power and the system boots just fine. I feel very stupid in hindsight.. thank you @REVOCCASES That's beyond my expertise though I'd love to know how to do so. If you have any relvant links, please share!

    The GPU works with slot power AND with auxiliary power, but only with the HDPlex. Doesn't with the CM PSU. I guess like @Snerual said.. I'd like the GPU to work with the CM 750 too. Is there a potential workaround?

    Works well on the HDPlex. I don't have another PSU to test with. The GPU is otherwise fine.

    Connectors are inexpensive. I'd leave the stock cables alone in case the PSU needs to be RMA'd. It'll be a real PITA to de-pin your custom cables should you need to send your PSU in.
