It looks like they are just potting it with epoxy.

I actually flashed the 1.72 bios that I found online, now I'm hitting closer to 90W with SMT enabled.

Idle is roughly 45C, tops at 85C- However, my fan profile is stock and fan RPM jumps from 1800 at 84.9C to 2600 at 85C. I think it would top out around 87 with constant 1800. The spike from 45C to 70C took roughly 10 seconds, but I'm only drawing 70W with CB, 80 with CB and Heaven. I will admit...

Are you using a 5700 or 5700G? The 5700G is monolithic, and my a300 with a 5700G and nh-l9a does not spike at all. I'm also using liquid metal for TIM.

The power brick is rated at 88% minimum, and the 300W PSU is rated at 92% typical. However, they were $125 and $85 respectively. It can't be all that bad, as it seems the 5700G itself pulls around 90W via stress testing. I'd be concerned pulling 10+ amps through that barrel connector at 12V...

I really should have looked around regarding the A300/X300 accepting a 12V input. I just bought a 450W 18V brick from a supplier in China and a 300W PSU for my planned 5700G RX6800 build. 12V would have made my PSU choices much cheaper.

Motherboard Group Buy/Crowdfunded Modded BIOS for the Asrock A300m (Deskmini A300)

I don't think its that, because I cant even change timings at 2400MHz ram. Its almost as if it's ignoring all bios settings.

    News Asrock Deskmini X300

Upgraded to 1.70, still no manual RAM overclocking or XMP loading. The Vega 8 in the 5700G benchmarks at the same level as the Vega 11 in the 2400G with my old 3400Mhz RAM overclock. It's odd, because the RAM overclock worked on the 2400G with the old bios (1.60).

Motherboard Group Buy/Crowdfunded Modded BIOS for the Asrock A300m (Deskmini A300)

I applied liquid metal and ran CPU-Z's internal stress test to see how low temperatures are. I've been getting consistent 4.4-4.6 Ghz on all cores under load, with temperatures in the 70s. It looks like GPU performance has been knocked down due to the inability to overclock RAM, since the...

They make their own drivers and software in house- it's what I've always used. It should be available on their downloads page.

I realized what the weird name was- I had modified the bios to unlock some of the debug settings on 1.6 for the X300, and forgot I had set the debug name to P1.60- https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/group-buy-crowdfunded-modded-bios-for-the-asrock-a300m-deskmini-a300.10567/post-218728 I...

Motherboard Group Buy/Crowdfunded Modded BIOS for the Asrock A300m (Deskmini A300)

A clip isn't necessary- there is a small 2x10 pin header under the ram that goes straight to the bios pinouts. I don't remember off of the top of my head which pin goes where. I own and use a flashcatUSB pro, but I've previously used the flashcatUSB classic. Both can be found here-...

That is correct. I used a flashcatUSB since I was unable to find a way to flash with software.

Just an update for anyone wondering, I flashed P1.60 for the X300 onto my A300 and I'm able to run a 5700G. However, it looks like it breaks ram overclocking.
