Prototype Project Orthrus - Smallest SLI mATX case (V2)

I doubt that 7.5mm spacing of vent slots is patentable. It's the greatest common denominator of 92mm and 120mm fan mounting holes (82.5mm and 105mm respectively). It does not pass the test of "non-obvious".

I think the idea of that terminal is for both inlet and outlet to be pointing inward, towards the motherboard in your case. The short-side outlet wouldn't be used. The blank long-side shown on the ekwb website would be facing the side panel.

Can plumbing come down in parallel from the top card to the bottom card with 90 degree fittings in the space of the then vacant second slot? Edit: or even place two cards front to back in the top slot?

Concept Spartan Jr: The 8.35L ITX tower case

No news to report. Have not been able to work on it recently, and I'm traveling this weekend. To be completely honest, I will most likely finish the 10.7" E-ATX compatible Spartan before Spartan Jr. as I already own two NCASE M1's. The GTX 1080-ti is peaking my interest, and my EVGA 1060 SC is...

    ATwentyX: E-ATX under 20L

Not sure about an intake fan for the CPU on the back. Those GTX cards in your render, albeit an example, exhaust out the back below your intake fan. You're cooling your CPU with warm air.

    ATwentyX: E-ATX under 20L

Spartan is 0.25" (6.35mm) wider than a 3U rackmount server, with the 3mm acrylic outside of that, so call it 9.35mm wider. There is 14mm of clearance between a reference height PCIe card (like a 1080 ti) and the side panel. In the Spartan post I discuss these 90 degree adapters from Kareon...

Planning of my case has begun!

Yes, that is the material thickness minimum and maximum. This gives motherboard IO shield manufacturers a range of metal thicknesses to support. 18 gauge stainless steel is 0.050 which is just under the maximum of 0.052. You can go thicker, but the IO shield edges may not fully come through...

    ATwentyX: E-ATX under 20L

Interesting design! Your support for taller cards and heatsinks is nice. Just wanted to bring to your attention my Spartan case design that I posted last month; which can handle ASUS 12" x 10.7" E-ATX boards at 16.7 liters...

Concept Spartan Jr: The 8.35L ITX tower case

Here's a mockup with @Necere 's suggestion to flip the layout. I added a third slot to provide the 20mm of clearance between the card and PSU. I haven't widened the case yet to fit taller cards, but that seems inevitable. Widening it will allow me to undo the PCIe cutout and make the outer...

Concept Spartan Jr: The 8.35L ITX tower case

Hi Folks, I just wanted to update that I'm still alive. I've been dealing with Life, the Universe, and Everything since my initial post. I do not wish the Flu upon anyone; especially with a work deadline to meet. Thank you everyone for your feedback. I had read some of it last weekend and...

Concept Spartan Jr: The 8.35L ITX tower case

Thank you! Hmmm... That card is listed at 240mm (9.45") long, and then it's power is on the end; so might as well call it 254mm (10") with a low-profile power peg. Would need a lot more space for that. The case would need to be at least 25% deeper than it currently is.

Yep, I zoomed in after I posted. Since corrected. Fan is still in a bad location, though.

Aside from that PSU's fan location being off to one side, this should work!

Concept Spartan Jr: The 8.35L ITX tower case

As promised, here is the half-sized version of Spartan in an ITX form factor: Spartan Jr's frame will be made out of 18 gauge (0.050”) brushed stainless steel (no powder coat) with outside dimensions of 11.2" x 8.1" x 5.5" (284.5mm x 205.7mm x 139.7mm). The side panel is planned to be 0.118”...

    S4 MINI Classic (S4M-C)

I also have a case modeled up with that layout (Spartan Jr) using a 100mm SFX PSU on the bottom, 140mm wide, coming in at 8.2 liters.
