    Project: Hypercube

Just got a delivery estimate from Amazon.com for my 8700K, should be shipping this Wednesday, with delivery due over the weekend. Now I just need to pick up the power supply and CPU cooler!

I'll likely be using an NH-L12 with the CPU undervolted and/or underclocked. I probably should have gone for the i7-8700, but the K model gives me more flexibility if I decide to change cases in the future. Thermals hopefully won't be an issue.

Won't really affect me, as if anything, I'll be underclocking, not over. Thanks though! From what I've heard anyway, they plan to fix it in a BIOS update.

Will do! Yeah, still waiting on the 8700K to ship from Amazon, no idea when it'll be coming in which sucks. If I can find an 8700 in stock before then, I might just opt for it.

I knew the fan choice would give it away...

I have an 8700K on preorder, but god only knows when that's coming in :( I'll keep the case a secret for now, but I should be updating this thread in a day or two ;)

GPU Gigabyte GTX 1080 mini itx

I've heard that European availability is around the 12th, so I'd expect something similar to the US.

    LZ7 LAN-party build

Awesome build! I'm looking at putting an SF600 in this case, and getting some CableMod cables. Do you think the following would suffice based on your findings? I'll be using a ASUS Strix z370-I. 24-pin ATX: 15cm 8-pin PCI: 15cm 8-pin EPS/CPU: 20cm

Yeah, unfortunately it's looking like I'm going to wait for Coffee Lake, so might be a week or two before I have the parts available to test out performance. I expect thermals/overclocking to be in line with the 1070 ITX, if not a little worse, but I'm sure it'll live up to my expectations. It's...

    Project: Hypercube

Hey! Thought I'd start a little build log for my upcoming PC, and where else would be better than here? Literally just got back from my local computer store in Akihabara and picked up my first part for the build. I'm essentially winging it as I go along, but I'll be picking up parts over the...

GPU Gigabyte GTX 1080 mini itx

Just picked one up ;) EDIT: I paid ¥ 75,578 JPY for the card at Dospara in Akihabara, which is 568 EUR or 672 USD at the time of this post. I expect the card to go down in price a bit once it hits Amazon.co.jp etc. That price is including tax.

    Laptop for our cramped apartment?

Exactly, and the SSD and extra 4GB of RAM will be a huge benefit. The Acer looks like it has a decent enough build quality though, albeit mostly plastic, and a 7 hour battery life isn't terrible. Worst case you can always disable the dGPU in the BIOS if you need a little extra battery.

    Laptop for our cramped apartment?

I would recommend going for something like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834316154&cm_re=MX150-_-34-316-154-_-Product Pros: 1080p Display, SSD, Modern CPU, Dedicated (albeit low-power GPU), 8GB RAM, USB-C 3.1 Cons: Likely battery life, build quality. Here's some...
