Cooling Petition for short tube sff specific 120mm AIO

Do they? Imagine a 120mm radiator, but with heat pipes in place of water pipes. Air coolers tend to be frameless and self-supporting, that's why they need to be sturdy. But it doesn't mean an air cooler cannot be made with a frame and thin copper fins.

Cooling Petition for short tube sff specific 120mm AIO

Never mind, I should have read the whole thread before replying. Completely misunderstood the point. As a custom product, my only question would be, why not custom heatpipes. AIO needs to bring a lot to offset the ease of installation and simplicity of a large C-shaped cooler.

Cooling Petition for short tube sff specific 120mm AIO

IMO "shorter" tubing is not the way to go, especially in SFF. The users should be able to cut tubes to length, to fit a particular build perfectly. Using G1/4 threads throughout should be enough to address maybe half the points from the first post. Fittings are easily available, and more...

Cooling Sharkoon QB One "Air Flow" question

Unless you have a good use for the HDD bay (or rather, the 5" bay), just remove it. It serves no purpose in this case other than blocking airflow. My personal preference is that top fans should be exhaust fans, because that's how hot air would like to move anyway. But afaik it doesn't matter...

    Power Supply PicoPSU schematic

What kind of data? It's marked "Rev 1.1" near the 5 pin connector, and there's nothing else particularly useful there.

Power Supply A Guide to 12V PSU

Follow-up to my post above. Replacing MW PPS-200-12 with MW EPP-200-12 solved pretty much all issues. PPS-200-12 no load 7W sleep 8W system idle 28W EPP-200-12 no load 0.3W sleep 2.2W system idle 24W EPP is also completely silent at system idle and above. There's barely audible whine with no...

    Power Supply PicoPSU schematic

It looks like schematics for PDCBs are not easily available, at least I was unable to find one to look at when I wanted to. So I ended up tracing a spare board I've got. If you're wandering how these things work, what can and cannot be done, maybe thinking of doing something custom, well, here...

Cool and quiet Ryzen APU build 15L

The only reason to even consider HDPlex over 12V MW is the poor no-load performance of MW PPS, something I did not know before I assembled the system. Pretty much everything else in not in favor of HDPlex. Once I know that, there's EPP-200 which is 12V, about the same size as HDPlex 150W, claims...

Power Supply A Guide to 12V PSU

No load whatsoever, output connectors were not plugged into the PSU. In sleep mode (CPU power connected, PDCB connected, system sleeping, fans & pump stopped) I'm reading about 8W.

Power Supply A Guide to 12V PSU

Anyone tried measuring idle power consumption for Meanwells? I finally switched to a 12V setup with PicoPSU and Meanwell PPS-200-12, and was surprised to find out the PSU draws about 7W with no load. At this point, it's not even about power saving so much as it is about thermals. When the...

Cool and quiet Ryzen APU build 15L

Well. RIP BQ TFX2 2018-2018. Blew fuses in a rather spectacular way while under moderate load. Investigation revealed a shorted chopper MOSFET and apparently nothing else. The passive-cooling experiment has to be declared inconclusive for now. The exact reason the switch failed is not clear...

Can an underpowered PSU run safely with computer on idle/non intensive tasks?

The failure mode you should be concerned about is letting the PSU overheat slowly. It may be ok to test-boot the system, but I would not let it run for any prolonged time, and definitely not without supervision. I would not do it blindly either; at the very least, get a power meter and keep an...

CPU Zen 2 News and Rumors Discussion

3600g looks really nice. Very likely to replace my 2400g once it comes out. Assuming it's AM4. The TDP is higher, may be a problem for very compact builds. But not for me for sure. 3300g is quite interesting as well, it's next-gen 2400g.

    Make PSU Modular

A bunch of connectors hanging around would take a lot of space. The result may end up being much less upgrade-proof than expected because of the space required to stuff the connectors. I'm not sure it's any better than just cutting the cables to length. Heat-shrink tubing is the usual...

That's a generic gas spring monitor arm. I got it as "ITech MBSG-02F" but I don't think the model name means much. This seems to be same exact unit: https://mount-it.com/products/mount-it-gas-spring-single-monitor-desk-mount-mi-1761
