Here at SFFreview we’re all about Small Form Factor builds. We’re also in to the sensation that is Minecraft. When an opportunity came up to host a Minecraft Creative Build tournament at AuckLAN, in Auckland, New Zealand, we jumped at the chance. The conundrum here was what to provide as a prize!
I decided to do what we know best, SFF Modding. So here goes!
AyWun A1-1001
The chassis we chose, truly SFF, and good value for money.
Let’s begin
First up – better cooling. The stock case comes with a 80mm front intake spot – and we all know 80mm fans aren’t that great for moving air quietly.
Airflow!
I’ve cut a larger fan position here – to fit a 120mm fan!
Vinyl!
With the addition of some Digital Camo Vinyl from MetroRestyling, the look is coming together.
Back side view
And a back view. I left the rear panel clear of vinyl to prevent issues with cooling and hardware mounting.
Back again
Another view, showing a good shot of the vinyl’s pattern.
LCD!
The LCD has been installed, and features a USB connection and 2×16 character display.
Mesh Window
The mesh is honeycomb modder’s mesh from MNPCTech, and has been ‘aged’ a little bit to add character.
Action Shot!
A detail shot showing the LCD in action.
LCD and Buttons
Front view showing how the fan gets it’s air, as well as the vandal resistant power/reset switches.
Front Quarter
It’s done!
Back Quarter
Ready for the prize winner.
Internals
Internal shot showing the 4x 2.5″ HDD adapter, and some of the sleeving.
Sleeving!
A better shot of the sleeving.
This modified case will be given away to the creator of the best Creative build at AuckLAN5! We hope to see you there at the event.
