Vienna, April 23rd 2024 – Noctua today introduced its new NH-L12Sx77 low-profile CPU cooler for compact, powerful yet quiet Small Form Factor systems. The NH-L12Sx77 is a slightly taller variant of the award-winning NH-L12S, offering improved cooling performance as well as enhanced motherboard and RAM compatibility.
“Our NH-L12S is a popular choice for compact builds in cases like the Fractal Design Terra or Louqe RAW S1, but due to its height of only 70mm, RAM compatibility and clearance for tall motherboard components are...

I'm amazed how many SKUs Noctua has of the L12 with such minor differences to the product but huge difference to the builds it's for.

Looks like you could fit a 25mm fan in there with a low profile mounting nut*. Assuming it clears the rest of your motherboard. Very nice.

*Actually, maybe a 25mm fan could fit as-is

This version should bring it parity with the Thermalright SI-100 that is 100mm in height with 6 heat pipes.

This sems like an extremely niche product? You really had to go out of your way to find cases where this is the pootentially best coler. I don't think many Terra builds will go for max CPU cooler clearance at the expense of strict dual slot GPUs, and the Silverstone Milo 12 is a very outdated case.

An SFF cooler needs to be either:

- 37mm because that's the height of the motherboard IO shield
- 47mm because that's how much space you have next to an SFX PSU
- close to 70mm because that's how much space you have next to a low profile GPU and Flex PSU.

Noctua has the best solution for the first case but seems oblivious to the rest of the market.

SFF includes many other systems running non-low profile. And there are some oddball cases like ThermalTake Core G3 where it could be a good fit.

Also math: within 10% is 'close to 70' depending on what you are doing.
