Silverstone Starts Shipping Flex ATX 350W Power Supply

Almost a year after unveiling at Computex 2017, Silverstone is now ready to supply the market with it’s first commercial Flex ATX form factor PSU, the FX350-G. Measuring a decent 350W at 80 PLUS Gold rating efficiency, this will be able to power mainstream gaming or a compact NAS SFF builds with ease. Silverstone likes to show that power supplies don’t need to be  large to be powerful by including a power density rating, which it measures at 707W per liter for this PSU. It has been certified to work at 40°C ambient environments and maintain a 350 continuous power …

SilverStone SX650-G and SX500-G Reviewed

We would like to thank SilverStone for providing us with review samples of their SX650-G and SX500-G units. Without their generosity, this power supply review would not be possible. The world of SFX power supplies has come along leaps and bounds in the past few years, leading to more and more powerful small form factor builds gracing our community. One of the leading manufacturers in the field, Silverstone, has recently added two more products to their lineup – the SX650-G and the SX-500G. First showcased in 2016 and again at CES 2017, the impressively specc’d SX650-G reaches as high as 819 watts …

SilverStone SX650-G and SX500-G finally incoming!

After much anticipation, product pages for the new SilverStone SX650-G and SX500-G SFX power supplies have popped up on the website. We first shared news of these units when they were initially shown off way back in January of 2016. Since then we’ve checked in with SilverStone for status updates on them first at CES 2017, and again just a few months ago at Computex. So you can imagine how excited we are to see that these units will soon enter retail availability. According to SilverStone, the new PSUs started shipping from the factory a few days ago and will hopefully …

SFX Computex 2017 roundup

As promised, here is the SFX power supply Computex 2017 roundup. While not as extensive as the SFX-L roundup and they’re mostly budget units, more competition and options in this space is always very welcome. Akasa As covered in the Akasa booth article, they have two upcoming SFX units of 350W and 450W capacity. They are non-modular, feature a 92mm fan, and are of Bronze-equivalent efficiency. I say equivalent because the display units at least did not feature a 80 PLUS rating but a “85% efficient” label instead. The OEM is Sirfa/High Power. Cooler Master When we checked in with Cooler Master …

SFX-L Computex 2017 roundup

There sure were SFX-L units all over the exhibit hall at Computex this year! I love this because I truly believe that SFX and SFX-L have the potential to supplant ATX as the standard form factors for PC power supplies (reducing the space the PSU takes up inside the case in the process), and we’re starting to reach an inflection point of SFX and SFX-L PSU availability from multiple companies. The reason I say that is because having more SFF power supply options encourages case manufacturers to design around the form factor, which in turn creates a bigger market for these PSUs, which encourages …

Akasa Venom RG prototype ITX case, SFX/SFX-L PSUs, and more

While wandering the floors of Computex this sharp-looking Mini-ITX case immediately caught my eye, especially when I saw whose booth it was in. This is the prototype Venom RG case from Akasa. While Akasa has the Venom line of gaming products, most of their cases though are aimed at the industrial market so I was quite surprised to see this premium-looking Mini-ITX case from them. The exterior design is very clean, with thick silver aluminum panels and a steel frame. In fact, the front is so clean that there isn’t even any front IO present, including the power button! According to …

Raijintek shows off SFX-L, SFX, and a PCIe extender

Raijintek had a 450W SFX power supply at their booth last Computex, but as far as I can tell it never came to market. But this year they are showing off two SFX-L units. First is the LSFX-series Gold-rated 500W(?) Raijintek PSU-4550 unit. As can bee seen on the sign, it features all-Japanese capacitors and will include a SFX to ATX bracket. It is fully modular. The sign says 500W, but the label advertises 550W as max load. The 12V only does 41A though so I would personally consider this as more of a 500W units since most modern systems are so …

XIGMATEK enters the SFX PSU game

We had the opportunity to visit the XIGMATEK suite and, like so many other companies at Computex this year, they had new SFX-L units. This new SFX 120F series includes two models, the SFX 120F-500W and SFX 120F-600W. They both feature 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, fully modular ribbon cables, slim 120mm fan, single 12V rail, and will come with a SFX to ATX bracket. The modular connectors are slightly recessed for a bit of space savings. The label seems to be a work in progress, since the total power is only 500W on what is supposed to be a 600W PSU. The …
