Zotac GTX 1080 Mini now in stock!

Zotac announced the first short GTX 1080 video card at the end of last year and it’s been one of the most discussed video cards on the forum since then, but now it’s here! Amazon has it listed for $720, and shows in stock, with 2 left as of this writing. The price is a bit high, but presumably there’s a bit of price gouging going on since stock is so limited, and it’s being sold via a third-party seller and not Amazon themselves. But that’s the price you pay for having the latest and greatest, right this minute. Hopefully the price will come down …

Galax shows off a single-slot GTX 1070!

At the GALAXY & NVIDIA Carnival in Wuhan, China, GALAX (what GALAXY goes by in North America) showed off a single-slot GTX 1070. The defining feature is, of course, the fact that the stock heatsink and rear IO is just a single slot in thickness, with what appears to be a pure copper heatsink to compensate for the smaller surface area. Not visible in this picture, but the PCB is about the same length as a reference GTX 1060 with the section of the card with the fan extending past the circuit board. The power connector is a single 8-pin connector, …

XFX has announced two single-slot AMD RX 460 graphics cards.

Following just after the announcement of the HIS RX 460 Slim-iCooler OC on the 24th, VideoCardz has shared that XFX has two new single-slot AMD RX 460 graphics cards coming to the Small Form Factor market. Both Polaris 11 based cards will use AMD’s reference clock speeds and will operate on a maximum of 75 watts, requiring no additional power. XFX will offer a 2GB and a 4GB variant, and based off the screenshots below, both cards appear to be using the same robust aluminum heatsink as the one used on the HIS RX 460. We weren’t able to find the exact dimensions of the card but TechPowerUP! states that the …

MSI has released the GTX 1050 Ti 4GT LP

SFF Forum member NateDawg72 has shared exciting news of MSI’s new low-profile GTX 1050 Ti 4GT LP on the forums. Without official news or any social media announcements, this card appears to have slipped completely under the radar. MSI’s new GTX 1050 Ti 4GT LP card replaces MSI’s aging GTX 750 Ti 2GB LP that was released in November of 2014. This card, like the previous one, is a dual-slot, dual-fan GPU solution with a height of just 69mm. It requires no additional 6/8-pin power (max 75 watts) making it the perfect companion for that slim case with low-profile slots that you have been eyeing. Here are the specifications as …

NVIDIA Users – Hold Off On Updating to 375.57 [UPDATED]

Thinking I was alone in experiencing some very weird issues after installing the 375.57 drivers for my GTX 750 Ti, I went searching the web and found this PCPer post, leading me to the realisation- 375.57 may have been taken out of the oven a little early. NVIDIA released the driver after some WHQL delays (possibly caused by the time of year), claiming optimal performance for Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, and Civilisation 6. However, all is not well. From basic video rendering bugs, to my start menu in Windows 10 locking up when moving a tile, there are a few …

AMD Drops the MSRP of RX 470 and RX 460

After the recent launch of NVIDIA’s GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti cards, AMD has fired back. Not with new cards (although that may be coming too…), but with a couple of price cuts on their RX 470 and RX 460 product lines. In addition to this, AMD has been sending out media packs showing what they say makes its GPUs better choices than NVIDIA’s. Pricing of the Radeon RX 470 4 GB is cut down to US$159.99, from its US$169.99 launch price. This puts the 470 just US$20 above the GTX 1050 Ti. AMD claims that for US$20 more than the GTX …

ASUS Unveils a Limited Edition White R9 Nano

ASUS has released a limited edition Radeon R9 Nano graphics card with a matte white cooler shroud, replacing its matte-black reference unit. Besides this, there’s absolutely no changes to this card from AMD’s reference design. The PCB is reference, and so are the clocks, with up to 1000 MHz core, and 500 MHz (512 GB/s) memory. It remains to be seen if ASUS seeks a small premium for this card, and if that’s enough to lure case-modders building machines around this color scheme. Gigabyte R7-360 – Mid-Range Miniature

With the current trend towards ‘ITX-ing’ graphics cards, I thought I would have a look at a current generation card – the Gigabyte GV-R736OC-2GD. This card features the AMD R7-360 GPU, with 2GB of GDDR5 and a dual-slot, full height, form factor. A little history of the R7-360 This card features the ‘Tobago’ core – also known as the ‘Bonaire Pro’ – a derivative of the Bonaire core first featured, in ‘XT’ form, in the HD7790 from early 2013. The core is based on Graphics Core Next (GCN) 1.1 architecture, which we will detail later on. Later in 2013, AMD launched the …
