A Byte of Gigabyte at CES

Yep, pun intended. Nope, I’m not sorry. Nearing the end of the final day of CES 2017, Drew Duncan, our reporter on the ground at the show, grabbed these snapshots of the Gigabyte booth. [mks_separator style=”blank” height=”2″] RGB LEDs! Also, armoured PCIe and RAM slots. I’m waiting for a full armoured board… I am liking the trend towards IO covers, the stacks of ports can be a little ugly in custom builds. Gigabyte’s 200-Series Range – Sizeable (In a Good Way)

Written by James Schell and John Morrison. Streaking into first place with the most SFF boards on offer at launch, Gigabyte brings it’s breadth of options to the market. With so many options, surely there’s one here for everyone? Maybe? [mks_separator style=”blank” height=”2″] Mini-ITX GA-Z270N-WIFI While Kaby Lake is fairly disappointing as far as CPU performance improvements is concerned, I’m very appreciative that the new generation of boards that are launching with it are trending towards a more subdued, monochrome color scheme compared to the often gaudy designs of previous gens. The GA-Z270N-WIFI here looks to be a solid Mini-ITX board …

Many 200-Series Motherboards Leaked ahead of CES

With Intel’s Kaby Lake soon to be released, many motherboard manufacturers are gearing up for their Intel 200-series chipset lineup. Although new features over the 100-series are limited, this did not keep board manufacturers from innovating and trying to bring something unique to the table. Most of these new boards have leaked from Asus, ASRock, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI. Here are just a few of the veritable treasure trove of leaked images. Many more can be found in the source link, found below. Mini-ITX ASRock H270M-ITX/ac Asus STRIX Z270i Gaming MSI B250i Gaming Pro AC Gigabyte H270N-WIFI microATX ASRock Z270M-Pro4 …

More Images of Gigabyte AM4 Boards Leaked

The first few images we saw of the non-OEM, Gigabyte board, were not much other than teasers. Heavily cropped sections of board was all that we saw. Now, full shots of the boards have been leaked! What do we see? [mks_separator style=”blank” height=”2″] The two boards appear to be based on either AMD’s entry-level A320 or mid-range B350 ‘chipsets’. Since the AM4 chips are full SoCs with complete integration of chipsets, including a southbridge/ FCH; the “chipsets” in the AM4 platform are merely chips that add to the PCIe lane count of the platform, and provide additional SATA and USB connectivity. …

Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC appears

A product page listing has shown up for the Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC, a short version of the GTX 1070. This is, to my knowledge, the first short GTX 1070 card we’ve seen, but hopefully not the last! The boost/base clocks on the Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC are a bit more conservative than the other non-reference Gigabyte 1070’s due to the small, and thus less-capable, cooler. It clocks in at 1746 MHz/1556 MHz (boost/base) in OC Mode and 1721 MHz/1531 MHz in Gaming Mode. Power delivery is via a single 8-pin connector. The dimensions are 131mm wide and 169mm long, …

Gigabyte Launches the GA-X150M-Plus WS… and Forgets the Rear IO?

One of the weirder boards to be launched at CES this year is Gigabyte’s GA-X150M-Plus WS. This microATX motherboard features socket 1151 with the Intel C232 chipset (which Gigabyte has decided to call X150 for some unknown reason), dual DDR4 DIMM slots and a high quality audio solution. Also featured is a Realtek GbE LAN chipset, which supports cFosSpeed, a network traffic management application which Gigabyte claims to help improve network latency, maintain low ping times to delivery better responsiveness in a crowded LAN environments. Gigabyte also states that the Realtek GbE NIC consumes significant less power when it’s in idle state …

GIGABYTE B150N Phoenix Pictured

The first pictures of Gigabyte’s upcoming B150N Phoenix M-ITX board have appeared, courtesy of EXPreview.com. The board is for socket 1151 processors. Positioned between its mainline 100-series N products, such as the H170N-WiFi and its more premium Z170-based ones; this distinctive board features an orange+black color scheme which I think is awesome! Its PCB appears to be a slight change on that of the H170N-WiFi. The B150N features 5-phase VRM for the CPU, two DDR4 DIMM slots, and a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot. An mPCIe 3.0 x1 slot is wired to the PCH, driving the board’s included WLAN+Bluetooth card. Connectivity includes USB …
