at 23L and with a 500W ATX PSU with only one PCIe connector, two SATA and two floppy (!) connectors, this seems like a random HTPC case from a decade ago.

I personally don't see the appeal.

Just because it comes with a psu doesn't mean you have to use that one & honestly 5.5 in tall (laying down for that 1) is nice... All these oh look no ODD, but still over 5.5 in tall is like so what to me... I might just be picky, but hardly any SFF cases seem small to me...

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xmaster/ stock fans/psu bla, but otherwise it seems ok... It is just, well I am a bit obsessed with finding a 5.5 in. tall case that can fit a mATX... I even downloaded protocase, but that seems a bit complicated...

Shouldn't be too hard, Silverstone has a couple that are a between 5.5 and 6 in. tall: http://silverstonetek.com/product_case.php?tno=3&area=en

5.5" = ~140mm
6.0" = ~152mm
