I'm getting some parts for my next sff build (motherboard, psu, etc). I am transferring my current cpu and gpu to it. Is it possible to test bench with my cpu and gpu then put it back into the current rig I have like nothing happened?

No sweat.
Just make sure you do everything slowly and carefully, avoiding breaking anything in the process.
After unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet, discharge the PSU by pressing the power on button for a minute. Wear anti-static gloves (or a grounding wristband). Use extra care to remove the CPU (due to those easily bent pins). May consider running a CPU bench test to warm up and soften the thermal paste (which might have glued the CPU cooler to the CPU).
