When it comes to cooling, fan thickness seems to be a standard that manufacturers almost never stray from, with the vast majority of coolers going with 25mm fans or bust. However, with the Scythe Slim Silence, and now the Prolimatech Ultra Sleek Vortex 12, that fact has slowly been changing as the performance of thin fans improves, and enclosures begin to necessitate such tighter profiles - indeed, with modern fan motors and blade designs, good performance is still possible even after shaving 10mm (a full 40%) off!

Isn't the scythe fan thinner, too? I know their slip stream thin line is 12mm thick, which is 3 less than the prolimatech, but wasn't the one on the Big Shuriken just 10mm? Either way, that should be mentioned in the article, I feel.

Added a note in the conclusion regarding the thickness.

The fan included with the big shuriken is a 12mm, so only a 3mm difference.

Ah, then I was thinking about the 80x10mm fan on the Kozuti, my bad. 3mm are quite significant here, that's a 20% decrease. In some builds, it could make all the difference.

It could, but remember it is still 10mm thinner than regular fans :p
