News Ryzen 9 3900 - 12 core 65W

Based on the information provided by the sources, AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900 is a 12-core CPU with SMT that operates at 3.1 GHz default frequency (and presumably featuring a 4.2 GHz maximum turbo frequency from a 3DMark listing) and a 65 W TDP. The relatively low thermal envelope makes the Ryzen 9 3900 compatible with mainstream motherboards and cooling systems and enables PC makers to build relatively small computers featuring a 12-core processor.

Lots of cores, low power!
Makes me wonder if they have any 16 core non X models in the works ?

I wouldn't be surprised by that if there are lots of chiplets with 8 working cores that can't reach the clock targets for the 3950X or 3700X, but that would be a niche product indeed. Still, it might show up just so AMD can rub their power efficiency lead in Intel's face.

If you run any CPU slow enough it can use very little power. That said, I look forward to seeing the benchmarks for it. Might be a good candidate for a Dan Case (et.al) style build.
