Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have an ASRock DeskMini X300, which originally had a Ryzen 7 5700G installed. I recently got an ADT-Link PCIe x16 to M.2 NVMe eGPU adapter and an RX 6600 XT, and everything worked great.

Feeling confident, I sold my 5700G and bought a Ryzen 7 5700X, thinking it was just the same but with double the L3 cache and no iGPU. Now I realize the 5700X (Vermeer, Zen 3) is completely different from the 5700G (Cezanne, APU) and isn’t listed as officially supported for the DeskMini—though it’s still an AM4 socket chip.

Does anyone have experience with this setup? Could the 5700X work, or am I out of luck?

As far as I know, the "300 series" Deskminis have only ever been compatible with APUs. (edit)
I think they are BIOS locked like many proprietary PCs to only work with a specific set of CPUs.

People have tried non APU CPUs before in A300 and X300 Deskminis without success.

Sadly, you are out of luck on this one.

Which sucks because there's nothing stopping you from connecting a GPU over one of the two m.2, as demonstrated by plenty projects on this forum.
