Hello friends,

I just orderd a new A4-SFX-V3 case and asked Dan him self if the 2080 could fit inside. After 5min (yes, that fast) he reponded to me that the "Founder" cards will fit inside the case.

So, now i have an 2080 Founders edition and soon the A4 will arrive. Next up is the rest of the components.

The Idea is to build an pc that can run for like 4 to 5 years! (ultra settings now and medium in the end probably)

Ive got an Intel i7-8700k (3.70 ghz) in my current setup. Would this one be strong enough for the 2080? And is there any way to keep it cool inside the A4 case?

Ive got like a 1500-2000 budget to buy parts (Ex case and 2080) but im not sure what to buy since the cooling is limited and i dont want to toast an expancive CPU!! (Has someone succesfully done a i9 allready?)

Sugestions, ideas, some brainstorm and help is welcome!
Sorry for my awfull english!

Greetings,
Row :)

Hey Rowdey.

Doing exactly the same at the moment. I found a list somewhere where Dan informed about all the compatibility of most current 2080 and 2080TI cards and I chose the only model available to order to me at the moment.

My config is as follows:
- Intel Core i7-8700
- Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD - 1TB
- PNY XLR8 GeForce RTX 2080 Dual Fan Overclocked Edition 8 GB
- G.Skill Aegis DDR4 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 3000MHz CL16 G.Skill
- Dan Case v3
- Asus ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming
- Corsair Netzteil SF600 Platinum 600 W
- Noctua NH-L9i CPU-Kühler für Sockel 1155/1156
- NOCTUA nf-a12 x 15 PWM (Question to the community: Do I need one in this build?)

Total build cost is roughly 2.4K.

I have read about a lot of 8700K builds, but it seems as if quite a lot of them have challenges with the temp under load, seemingly with the same builds (undervolting differences?). So I chose the 8700 to go with the 65w and play it (relatively) safe. Yes, I know with the 8700 I will probably CPU limit the 2080 often, but it's a compromize. And I don't have the time to tinker the build until it all runs smoothly.

Best
